Chapter 22: I missed you

"thankyou.."

"I’m sorry for what I said. I was scared and confused. But I can’t stop thinking about you."

Iraa’s eyes filled with tears. "Vedang, I heard everything you said. How can I trust you?"

Vedang looked stricken. "Iraa, I didn't mean it like that. I was just... I was caught off guard. My brothers were teasing me, and I didn't know how to respond."

"I know I hurt you, and I’m so sorry," Vedang said, his voice breaking.

She hugged herself, trying to keep the walls around her heart intact. "Abhi kyu, Vedang? Why are you telling me this now?"

"Because I can’t stand seeing you in pain. I can’t stand knowing that I’m the reason for it," he said, his eyes filled with regret.

"Iraa, you mean so much to me. Much more than I realized. And I’m terrified that I’ve lost you for good."

Iraa’s heart ached at his words. She had wanted to hear this, but now that she did, it was hard to process.

"I’m not asking you to forget," he said, reaching out to gently touch her arm. "I’m asking for a chance to make it right."

She looked up at him, her defenses slowly crumbling. "Aur how do I know you won’t hurt me again?"

She looked away, her heart aching. "Why did you say those things, Vedang? I thought... I thought we were something more"

"We are," Vedang said quickly. "We are more than friends, Iraa. But I was scared. I didn't know how to deal with my feelings, and I panicked."

Iraa turned back to him, her eyes searching his. "What feelings, Vedang? What are you talking about?"

Vedang moved closer, his hand reaching out to gently touch her arm. "Iraa, when I said I didn't have feelings for you, I was lying. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was lying to myself as much as I was lying to my brothers."

Her heart skipped a beat, but she forced herself to stay calm. "Then why say it at all?"

"Because I was scared," Vedang admitted, his voice raw with emotion. "I'm not good at this, Iraa. I'm not good at talking about my feelings. But when I saw you avoiding me, when I saw the hurt in your eyes, I realized how much I care about you. And it scared me even more."

Iraa's eyes softened, but she still felt the sting of his words. "Vedang, tum ye sab bolke can't expect everything to be okay. You hurt me."

"I know," he said, taking her hand in his and turned to his side. "And I'm so sorry. I don't expect you to forgive me right away. I'm not asking for that," Vedang said softly.

"I'm asking for a chance to make things right. To prove to you that I care. To show you that I’m not the person who said those things. That I care about you more than I can put into words."

Vedang moved closer, his eyes never leaving hers. "I can't promise that I'll never make mistakes. But I can promise that I'll do everything in my power to never hurt you again. Because losing you, Iraa... it made me realize how important you are to me."

"Vedang," she whispered, tears streaming down her face. He gently wiped away her tears, his touch sending shivers down her spine.

"Tumhe kuch decide karne ki zaroorat nhi hai. Just know that I'm here for you, and I'll do whatever it takes to earn your trust again."

Iraa nodded, her heart aching with a mixture of hope and fear. "Okay."

Vedang pulled her into a gentle hug, his arms wrapping around her protectively.

She melted into his embrace, the warmth of his body providing a comfort she hadn't felt in days.

"I missed you," Vedang whispered into her hair. She closed her eyes, letting herself savor the moment.

Meanwhile Sidharth who was singing, looked at them happily and pointed Kriti to look at them.

They both let a relaxed sigh, whereas other ones had slept already.

After a while, Vedang pulled back slightly, looking into her eyes. "Can we start over? Take things slow and see where they go?"

Iraa nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "I'd like that."

He smiled back, his eyes filled with a mixture of relief and affection. "Thank you, Iraa." He said sincerely and kissed her forehead.

Iraa got all shy and smiled softly.

"Goodnight Vedang..."

"Goodnight rabbit"
