As days passed by, I started to learn my new life without my sister, a new life with Mama and Dad. I thought it would just take days to recover but days turned into months and months turned into years. There's a lot of big things and big adjustments that made things too difficult. Nathan, my suitor and best friend, courted me like what he said.
Senior high was kinda challenging and difficult but at least I survived. I survived with the presence of my loved ones. If I have a problem, I will just look at the sky and talk to it. When I remember my late sister Aria, I felt series of longing and nostalgia but I use that to continue to live and pursue my dreams. Everything was worth it. It's true that all hard work paid off.
"What's the surprise, mija? Why are we in front?" takang tanong ni Mama habang hawak ang kamay ko.
"Are you crying Dad?" tanong ko.
"N-no, I'm just happy." sabi ko.
"Valedictorian, with general average of 99.8, Best in General Physics 1, Best in General Biology 2, Best in General Chemistry 2, Best in Pagsulat sa Filipino sa Piling Larangan (Akademik), Best in Research in Daily life , Best in Entrepreneurship, Best in Media and Information Literacy, Best in English for Academic and Professional Purposes, and recipient of Leadership award.. "
"Alvarez, Nathan Limuelle."
"Salutatorian, with general average of 99, Best in Contemporary Philippine Arts from Regions, Best in Physical Education and Health, Best in Data Science, Best in Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics, Best in General Chemistry 1, Most Active member of Art club and a recipient of leadership award." isinabit din sa kanya ang mga medal.
He walked toward our direction.
"Kiddo! What's up?" sabi ni Daddy na parang kaedad ang binabati.
"Good, tito. How are you po?"
"I'm good too. By the way, congrats my future son-in-law." he said proudly as he patted Nate's shoulders. "Keep it up kid."
Tumango lang si Nate. "Permission to hug your daughter, Tito?" paghingi niya ng permiso kay Daddy.
"Congrats, lyubov." Nate hugged me and kissed my forehead.
I hugged him back, "Congrats din sa'yo, Salutatorian."
My Salutatorian.
"I'm proud of you." sabi ko at kumalas sa yakap.
"Proud of me as my friend? Or as my lover?" he asked jokingly.
I smirked.
