Under the Shades of Sky

Chapter 7

Nagulat ako ng buksan ni Iris ang pinto.

She raised her brow on me. "Look who's here. The president of 8-Aurora Borealis. Late ka yata ngayon Pres. Or more do I say... a miracle? Because you're always 10 minutes late and now you showed up 5 minutes early." she said to me while blocking the entrance of the door.

She was the class vice-president and the girl who sees me as her academic rival and her enemy. Wala naman akong ginagawa sa kanya pero simula ng mag transfer ako dito pero ako lagi ang pinag-iinitan nya. She was even bullying me before but she stopped because Alexa reported it to the office. Wala din siyang totoong kaibigan sa school pero may tinuturing siyang kaibigan na madalas naman ay kung ano-ano ang sinasabi sa kanya habang nakatalikod siya. I pitied her for that...that's why i want to make friends with her, hoping I would see her kind side.

"Uy! Miss President!"

"San ka galing Pres?"

"May dala kang food, Pres?"

"Kumain ka na, pres?"

"Pres, pasok ka na sa loob!"

"Mainit dyan sa labas"

"Pasok na kana, sis!"

"VP! Padaanin mo si Pres, baka may announcement pa!"

Sabay sabay na sabi ng mga kaklase ko but i just smiled at them and signaled them to be silent because the classroom the next door was busy. "Papasok din ako. Iris and I just need to talk. Please behave, the room next door is busy. Dylan and Diana, patahimikin nyo muna ha. Salamat!" sabi ko sa kanila na agad na nagpatahimik sa kanilang lahat. Hindi sila takot kay Dylan pero kay Diana...they better shut up with one word from her.

"Hindi ka ba nahihiya? Ako ang nag announce lahat ng upcoming quizzes, activities at lahat lahat! Tapos pinag iintay mo silang lahat?! You? Nasan ka? Puro landi ang inaatupag mo!" panunumbat nya sa akin.

I just looked at her.

Ano sinasabi nito? Eh halos lahat ng quizzes, activities at school projects si Ma'am ang nag-aannounce sa buong klase.

"Ano? Wala ka man lang bang sasabihin? Diba dinaya mo ang exam sa Science at Math kaya ka nakataas, perfect pa nga diba. Now, kasama mo si Nathan? For what? Para lalo kang mapalapit kay Ma'am Clara? For money? Para kang linta, sipsip! Why don't you defend yourself? Nagmumukha ka lang lalong guilty."

Is she accusing me of cheating and flirting?! First of all, I didn't cheat. I spend so many sleepless nights studying those things. Second, Nathan is my friend. And lalo sa lahat, Ma'am Clara was my Ninang! Tsaka, I know my limits. I treat Mama Ninang during school hours professionally.

I smiled understandingly at her. "Iris, I understand where your anger was coming from. Pero wag naman na nag-aakusa ka ng mga tao basta-basta. I know may pag-kukulang din ako as your President but I am trying my best to fulfill my role." I explained softly, keeping my thoughts inside me.

I looked at her softly one more time and I saw Iris glaring at me. "Iris, I know malaki ang galit mo sa akin simula ng lumipat ako dito sa school na 'to. But please, let's be professional and set aside the things between us. One lie can lead other people to the wrong path and the wrong path makes things miserable. So please ...don't be on the wrong path that will lead everyone to a more miserable situation." I said, trying to be as calm as possible.
