Pagkatapos ng final exam ay nagpasa ako ng last research ko para sa year na ito. My prof will email me daw kapag approved or hindi ang research ko. Im praying na sana approved kasi sobrang hirap gumawa ng research. Mabuti nga at walang nangyaring defense kundi I'm doomed!
"Deia, you have to rest." pamimilit niya sakin.
Naiirita na kinikilig ako sa ginagawa niya. He freaking told me to do that a hundred times! But at least may concern diba?
"But I have to read and visit Mama." rason ko naman at hindi tinapunan ng tingin ang lalaki.
Kanina pa niya ako pinipilit na magpahinga at matulog kahit isang oras habang nasa byahe.
"Deia, please don't be stubborn. Magagalit si Mama kapag ganyan ka." sabi pa ni Nate.
I rolled my eyes. "I'm not being stubborn. Ikaw nga hindi din natulog." saad ko naman na ikinatahimik niya. Diba? Guilty agad eh.
He heaved a sigh.
"How about let's make a deal? We will video call Mama, we will sleep and wake up to do things we need to do. Deal?" he said and held my hand. Napa isip naman ako sa sinabi niya. "Okay. No response is still a response. It's a deal." he announced, making me punch his arms. I made sure it was hard enough to make him flinch.
He chuckled. "Why?" pang-aasar niya at minasahe ang maskuladong braso sa sinuntok ko. Wag kakalabanin ang isang Romero. "Since when you punched that hard?" he asked, still chuckling to tease me even more.
"Anong deal? I'm still thinking idiot!" inis na saad ko.
"Ang tagal eh. I considered it yes already." he naughtily said. Tell me! Kailan pa naging yes and hindi pagsagot?! When?! Kung sino man nagsabi sa boyfriend ko...mag-uusap kami ng masinsinan.
I was about to hit him but someone called on his phone. He threw a glance at his phone before meaningfully looked at me.
"Answer it." he commanded.
Kinuha ko agad ang phone at nakita ko na Mama ang nakalagay na pangalan. Sinagot ko iyon at itinapat kay Nate.
"Hello Nathan?" saad ni Mama ng walang magsalita sa parehong linya.
"Hi, Ma! Good evening, how are you po?" he asked while still focused on driving towards my condo.
"I'm good... is Deia with you? she asked Nate concernly.
Bago pa makasagot ang lalaki ay nagsalita na ulit si Mama."I heard hindi pa daw kayo natutulog. Magpahinga muna kayo sa condo unit ni Deia okay? Wag na muna kayong bumisita dito, lalabas na din naman kami ni Céline sa bukas. Kaya ko dito. Salamat kahapon , Lim." she said.
"Is that Nathan?" I heard tita Alvina asked.
"Limuelle, hijo, magpahinga muna kayo bago gumawa ng mga requirements." sabi ni Tita Alvina.
"Noted Tita." sabi ni Nate at nakakalokong tumingin sakin. "Heard it lyubov?" he said teasingly.
I frowned. "Love you Ma, Tita. Ingat po kayo." sabi ko na lang.
"Deia, anak, eat healthy foods okay. Bye for now, love you too." sabi ni mama at pinatay ang tawag.
Hindi ko namalayan na kanina pa pala nakapark ang kotse ni Nate sa parking.
"Let's go." he said and let go of my hand. Pinagbuksan niya ako ng pinto at inalalayan akong lumabas.
"Hindi ako pilay, Nate." sabi ko paglabas.
He looked at me, grinning. "Gracias, mi amor."
Napangiwi ako sa kanya. He has this handsome Spanish accent makes half of me love him. The other half? It was looking at him weirdly. Parang siyang asong nakangiwi. Yikes!
