Don't Die

Another short and sweet Maya & Andy fic :)

Maya and Andy were sitting on her couch, Carina in the kitchen. When in the movie they were watching a character died, causing her to think of all the people she had lost.

Her mother, Ryan, her father, Dean, and most recently Jack.

When the movie ended Andy was frozen on the couch. Carina walked into the living room to sit beside Maya when she realized Andy looked pale.

"Andy, are you okay?" Carina asked but Andy was still in her own world.

"Andy?" Maya tried, shaking her friend a little, thankfully bringing her out of her head. "Are you okay?"

Andy looked at Maya and then Carina. "Please don't die," Andy said and Maya and Carina's faces both held a surprised expression, neither of them expecting that. "I just, please don't die." Andy's eyes filled with tears. "Either of you." Andy looked between Maya and Carina. "Just... please don't die." Andy tried to will them back, but a tear dropped down Andy's cheek and Maya pulled Andy into a hug.

"Hey, look at me," Maya said after a few minutes. Andy pulled back from the hug to look at Maya. "Where is this coming from?" Maya asked, gently rubbing Andy's arm.

"Ryan said he would never leave me. Jack said he would never leave me." Andy said and they were still confused but ever since Jack had died from his injuries after the ball Andy had lost her passion for the job and everyone was concerned but they didn't know how to help her. Andy looked Maya in the eyes. "You're the only person in my life left who is as messy and twisty and screwed up as me. I, I can't lose you, okay?" Andy told her. "So, please, never leave me. Please. Please don't leave me, Maya." Andy begged and started to sob.

Maya was shocked but still knew she should hug Andy, so she pulled Andy into her arms and just held her, her heart breaking at every body-shaking sob her best friend released. Carina had gotten up from beside Maya and sat on the other side of Andy. She wanted Andy to know that they were both there for her, so she also hugged her tightly.

It was five minutes later when Andy's sobs started to slow down, and her cries quieted.

"Andy," Maya said. "Look at me," Maya asked. "I can't promise to never die, but I can promise that I will always be as safe as can be. I have too much I'd be leaving behind, Andy." Maya pulled Andy into her again. "I love you, Andy. Okay? I'm always going to do my best to stick around for you. To stick around for Carina. For Liam and any future children, we may have." Maya told her and Andy nodded, breathing beginning to calm. Maya looked over Andy's shoulder and at Carina, nodding that it was okay for her to let Andy go.

Carina got off the couch and went into the kitchen, leaving the two friends alone.

"Andy," Andy pulled back from Maya and wiped the tears off her cheeks. After a second she looked at Maya. "I know things haven't been easy for you. I know that you've been struggling more than you've let on. So, I need to know if I need to be worried?" Maya asked, running a hand up and down Andy's arm. Andy shook her head. "Is there anything I can do for you?" Maya saw Andy open her mouth right away and raised a hand. "Besides not die I mean."

Andy looked down at her hands for a few seconds. "Just," Andy paused. "You have this new family and I.." Before Andy could say anything else Maya stopped Andy.

"Andrea Herrera," Maya said firmly. "Look at me." Andy looked at Maya. "You will always, always, be my sister," Maya told her, and Andy teared up. "You'll never get left behind. I promise." Maya pulled Andy into her arms.

They had been sitting like that for what seemed like forever when Maya pulled back.

"Just so we're clear," Maya started, and Andy looked at her with an eyebrow raised. "You can't die either," Maya told her which got Andy to smile slightly.

"Deal," Andy said, and pulled Maya into another hug.
