(Saturday)I creased my forehead upon hearing loud cheering from downstairs. I stretched in bed, blinking to readjust my vision. What was so exciting that got people shouting at 9 in the morning?
I crankily walked down the stairs, stopping halfway when I saw three engrossed heads about to get sucked into the video game on the tv screen. I crossed my arms, leaning against the wall as I watched them work their way to victory.
"HELL YES!"
My brother shouted while they all high fived."Someone was woken up from her beauty rest"
Heeseung noticed my annoyed expression as I stood at the stairway."Ah, she'll be fine. Come on, next round"
Jay got a hold of his joystick again.I sighed while walking into the kitchen where my mom was cooking breakfast for us, including some for Heeseung and Jungwon.
"You really just let them play and yell their lungs out this early?"
I questioned her."That's how boys are, and besides, they're your friends too"
She said, now plating the food."Hey, anything I could help with?"
Jungwon spoke from behind us."I thought you were playing with them?"
I looked behind to see the other two still playing."Died early. It's fine, I can help set up the table"
Jungwon averted his gaze to my mom."I'd love that. Go ahead, while I'm preparing the last plate. Sohyun will help you"
My mom replied.I immediately started helping out, taking advantage of the time to get closer to Jungwon.
"Since when did you become such a helper?"
I nudged Jungwon."Shh, just earning some brownie points so your mom will like me a little more than Hee and your brother"
He joked, laughing softly."Tch, for what? She already loves you more than me, dummy"
I poured some water for everyone."Sohyun, it's impossible for her to love me more than the princess of this household"
Jungwon said, obviously not buying my lie.I smiled at his words. It wasn't the worst thing to get closer to him. Jiyoon was right, making moves now wouldn't hurt.
"Boys, come over! Breakfast is ready"
My mom said, placing the last plate down on the table.I took my seat next to Jungwon, feeling happy until Heeseung sat directly opposite me. My mom was around, so I couldn't do much and sat there defeatedly.
"How's lessons this week? Is my daughter coping well in your classes, Jungwon?"
My mom asked while chewing on her food."She's doing okay. Actually, Heeseung is the smartest out of all of us"
Jungwon shifted the spotlight to the quiet one who was taken aback."Is that so? Why don't you tutor her then? I'm sure she'll appreciate the extra help, how much would you charge?"
My mom was utterly delighted, facing Heeseung now."Tutor? I don't know about that. You'd have to ask your daughter"
He raised his brows, then his eyes met mine.I shook my head at him, praying that he's smart enough to make up a lie to not tutor me. Sadly, my hopes of that were crushed when a small grin appeared on his face.
"Sohyun, it'll be good for you. You've known Heeseung for so long. It won't be a problem to do some extra revision with him"
My mom wanted to convince me, and I sat there, hopeless."I can do it free of charge. Don't worry, gaining knowledge shouldn't be something you have to pay for, right?"
A smile graced his lips as he answered my mom."Thank you. Sohyun, you'll start next week"
My mom said.I internally cursed myself. I rather have Jay steal the last piece of my chocolate cake than have Heeseung tutor me.
"By the way, I ate the last piece of cake last night, Hyunnie. Sorry"
Jay spoke."JAY!"
I just became more aggravated."Gosh, I'll buy you a new one. Relax"
Jay said, taking another bite of his food. The table went quiet with all of us enjoying breakfast. I was wondering what I should do today since I had nothing planned at all. Jiyoon was always busy on Saturdays, so she wasn't an open option. Suddenly, I felt Jungwon lean closer to me.
"Do you wanna catch the recent movie later? I heard it's good, but the guys already watched it without me, and I don't want to go alone"
Jungwon whispered into my ear."Sure, let me wash up and get dressed. Then we could leave the house by 10.30am?"
I estimated a timing."Sounds perfect"
He gave a cute thumbs up, followed by his sweet smile.Timeskip
(10.15am)I usually don't dress up that much, but this is my first time hanging out with Jungwon alone. I felt the need to look better even if we were just going for a movie. I was doing some light makeup in front of my vanity, until someone knocked on my door.
"Get out, Jay"
I said, not looking at the person who entered the room.Silence filled the room, so I finally turned my head just to be greeted with Heeseung resting against the door frame. He looked puzzled for some reason.
"Did I say you could come in? Go away"
I closed my blush compact."Where are you going with that outfit?"
His chin tipped up, looking me head to toe."None of your business"
I said, getting the setting spray.Heeseung pushed himself off the door frame, and walked towards my closet. I ignored it, and set my face. Putting down the bottle, I took one final look at myself in satisfaction.
I was about to leave, but I locked eyes with Heeseung behind me through the mirror. He had a black leather jacket in his hands.
"This is more of your style"
He draped the jacket over my shoulders. He wasn't wrong, but I wanted to try something different.
"Keep it on, you don't look like yourself when you're wearing a dress"
He said, maintaining eye contact with me."Fine, it's cold in the theatre anyway"
I grabbed my bag and phone."You're watching a movie? With who? Ohhh, let me guess, the boy downstairs you have a crush on? "
He asked."Shut it. Also, don't think I'll actually sit down and let you tutor me"
I hit his arm."I made a promise to your mother, and I'm not going to break it"
Heeseung replied, and I rolled my eyes."You're such an annoying f*ck"
I left him, heading downstairs without allowing another word to fall from his mouth."Jungwon, let's go?"
I looked at him on the couch. He nodded, and I told my mom that we were leaving to watch a movie. As Jungwon approached me, I looked up and saw Heeseung at the top of the stairway looking down at me, his eyes darkening.
I wanted to get him out of my mind, trying to look forward to the day out with Jungwon instead. I can't allow the thought of Heeseung to be an excuse to have a bad time with Jungwon.
So much for thinking he was actually being nice to me for a moment.
