Heeseung's pov

I bumped into Jiyoon on the way to class, so I apologised and was about to leave when she stopped me. It was still early so I didn't mind hanging around for a while.

“Hey, how's you and Sohyun? I haven't been getting updates from her”
She asked.

“I'm courting her. Everything's been going well. Why? She's been hiding it?”
I got curious.

“Nah, she's just shy to share about it. It's her first time pursuing someone anyway. I'm watching you, don't mess this up for her. You already know what happened”
She warned me.

“You have my word. But, you know..don't you think you should focus on your own love life?”
I whispered.

“What do you mean?”
She arched a brow.

About Jay…
I trailed off.

Jiyoon didn't seem to take the hint.

“Seriously? You don't know a single thing? Gosh, what is he doing?”
I pinched the bridge of my nose.

“Huh? What about Jay?”
She prompted me.

“You'll find out sooner or later. I'll see you around”
I waved goodbye to her.

“Okay..”
She seemed a little upset that her question was left unanswered.

I got to class first and settled down in my seat next to Sohyun. It was nice to see her greeting me with a smile nowadays. Back when we were still distant, she didn't even throw me a glance at all.

But I could understand that I wasn't exactly the nicest to her because that was just our dynamic. We would never even think to say hi on some days. In all honesty, the only way I was able to get her attention was to bother her, but I didn't understand that Sohyun only hated me more for it.

I've never really felt strong feelings for her until I found her crying in my arms, letting out her emotions in front of me. It made my heart turn soft for her. I questioned myself how I managed to gain her trust.

Out of everyone I knew she was close to, she chose me to call over. To listen to her, to comfort her. I was more than happy to know that she felt safe and secure around me. That made me sure of my feelings for her. I have never wanted to protect someone more than Sohyun in my life.

“Why'd you leave the house so early?”
I asked.

“I always leave the house at that time with Jay. Sorry we didn't wake you up. Did you get to eat something before you left?”
She felt a little bad.

“Yeah, a damn apple sitting in your fridge was all there was for me to grab and go”
I shook my head.

“Be glad there was even something there”
She laughed.

The lecture soon started and everyone was listening to Mr Kim quietly. Sohyun, however, took out a packet of biscuits from her bag and was trying to open it. She managed to, but a few around obviously caught her because it was loud.

“Don't look at me like you've never done it before”
She said, popping a piece into her mouth.

“Mind sharing?”
I referred to the biscuits.

She broke a piece in half and gave it to me. I munched on it, realising it was good and wanted more. I put out my hand, gesturing if she could give me another piece, but she kept the packet of biscuits to the left side.

“Get your own”
She said.

“Please?”
I dragged her chair closer to me.

“Heeseung, I'm gonna get caught!”
She complained because of the loud grazing sound.
