The cold air outside urged me to leave the bar, but I stayed, taking a deep drag of my cigarette. She stood ahead of me, the corners of her mouth curling into a faint smile as he leaned in to whisper in her ear. He watched her intently, but she didn't turn toward him; her gaze remained fixed on the glowing city lights below. As he bent closer, his lips brushed her ear. I moved toward her without hesitation. I made sure my forearm grazed hers once I approached. Her head turned swiftly towards her arm and then her brown eyes met mine and she let out a quick breath, shocked to see me.

"Can you please get me a drink?", she asked as she turned to the man beside her. He smiled and nodded and headed inside.

It wasn't long before I felt her body tense as she spoke "What are you doing here?" she hissed.

I felt a smirk rise across my face but I maintained a serious facade, not wanting her to know I was entertained by her frustration with me.

"Can't a guy have a drink at a bar?" I asked, avoiding her eyes.

"Why here, Sam? There's at least twenty other bars you could have chosen to drink at", she replied bluntly.

I felt the electricity rise throughout my body now, conscious of how close she was to me.

"Don't flatter yourself, Skye. I don't care about you anymore", I responded, my voice hardened, I'm simply having a drink. Whose the guy?"

"That really doesn't concern you, okay", she responded hastily.

"Are you going to let him hit and drug you too?" I asked, a small amount of regret forming inside my chest.

"Go home, Sam", she said quietly, as I turned my body towards her, noticing the tears now forming in her eyes.

I grabbed her wrist as she turned to walk away, she let out a sigh, her body now returning to face mine.

"Come with me", I spoke, my tone soft but my eyes demanding.

"What?", she asked, her eyebrows raised in confusion.

"I won't repeat myself, Skye", my fingers were now tightly gripped onto her wrist, she couldn't escape me if she tried.

She breathed heavily, dropping her eyes to the floor. She nodded slowly.
