Chapter XLV: What?

"Liam!" Taehyung exclaims in shock. His expressions cannot be read after realizing who the man was. He was stupefied. His hand holding Lucas and Joaquin tightens a little bit. 

"You know him, uncle?" Joaquin asks, staring at the man standing in from of them who's also holding a girl. 

The man named, Liam, smiles while tilting his head, "Yes. Do you know me, sir?" he asked curiously. His brows were also furrowed, not knowing who Taehyung is. 

"What are you—Hey three years might've passed but I wouldn't forget your damn face!" Taehyung exclaims, his eyes tearing up. 

Jisoo, who's playing with her daughter, glanced at Taehyung. Her brows furrowed seeing her brother like that, as if he had seen a ghost. 

"Unnie, where are Taehyung and the twins?" Jennie asks, approaching the two along with Irene and Chaeng. Jisoo stood up and wipes off the snow from her pants and points at Taeh. 

"What's wrong with him?" Chaeng asks curiously. Seulgi head towards where Taehyung and the twins are with the others following from behind. After turning her head to the side, her eyes widens in horror. 

"Holy fu—!" she almost cussed but was smacked by Irene. Irene's hit didn't even bothered her as she was shocked to see a ghost. 

"Holy mother of God!" Irene gasps. Jisoo's jaw drops in shock after realizing what was happening. 

"Liam!" Chaeng exclaims as she ran towards Liam who was surprised by the sudden action. Chaeng starts to cry as she hugs the person who everyone thought was already gone. 

Jennie was not far from them and the scene in front was covered by the three which caused her to be annoyed, not knowing what they were all surprised about. 

"Get out of the way, unnie!" Jennie whines. Once she passed by them, she was greeted by Joaquin and Lucas who ran towards her that made her chuckle. 

Upon slowly looking up, her smile faded away. She gasped in surprise, seeing the man who haunts her dreams every night. The man who she thought she had already lost since that day. 

"No way..." she almost stumbled. Jisoo and Irene immediately held her shoulder to balance her and stop her from falling. 

Am I dreaming?

Is this real?

I'm not hallucinating, right?!

Jennie tries to calm herself down as her tears were already at bay. She slowly walks near Liam. After reaching the two, Chaeng noticed her and moves to the side while wiping her own tears. Jisoo, who was still in shock, went to her and calms her down. 

Jennie was already standing in front of the man. The man she has always been in loved. Jennie reaches out slowly, scared that if she touches the man, Liam will fade away and she will just wake up from another dream. 

Her fingers grazed Liam's jaw, before palming his cheeks. Her tears finally cascaded down from her eyes as she starts to cry while staring at his face. 

"You're real." she mumbles. Liam was just looking at her face intently, trying to familiarize the woman standing in front of him. Jennie then bawls her eyes out as she hugs the latter, taking him aback. The man felt bad and reciprocates the hug while tapping Jennie's back to comfort her. 

None of them thought that the man that they have been looking for, would be standing in front of them right now as if three years didn't passed and as if nothing happened to him. After a few moments, Jennie let's go of the hug even if she didn't want to. She was about to say something when another voice came out of nowhere. 

"Papa..." it was the little girl. Jennie's brows furrowed, confused. 

Did I heard that right? 

"There's no way..." Seulgi mumbles. A woman that looks like they are on the same age, appeared from behind and tapping Liam's shoulder. 

"Hey, is there something wrong?" she asks worriedly. 

"Ah, nothing's wrong." Liam smiles warmly. The smile he gave made the woman sighed in relief and smiles. 

"Mommy!" the little girl named Subin exclaims happily. The woman chuckles and pinches her cheeks. She looks over Liam's shoulder and raised her brow. 

"Who are they?" she asks. Liam looks back and saw Jennie and the others with a confused look. 

"I don't know. But I think they might know me." Liam said with a low voice so the others can't hear, but unfortunately they did. 

"Bro, what're you talking about? We grew up together!" Seulgi said, hurt. Jennie clenched her hands, also hurt after hearing the man denied who they were. Liam looks at them with a small smile. 

"I'm sorry. Can we meet up somewhere else and not here? This isn't the right place for us to talk." he says. Jennie stared at him in disbelief. 

"But—" 

"Sure. Here's my number. You can call me after when you're free later." Jisoo said, finally gathering her strength, since the others were still in shocked and disbelief. Liam smiles and hands Jisoo his number in exchange. 

"We should go ahead." Liam bids, he was about to walk away when Jennie stops him. 

"Wait!" Liam looks at her and raised his brow. 

"A–are you real?" Jennie asks, stuttering a little. Liam's eyes expressed astonishment, but turns soft as he gave out a gentle smile. 

"I am real. Don't worry." He doesn't know why, but he had the sudden urging feeling to assure Jennie that he was, and is real. Jennie smiles a little and nods. 

"That's a relief then." she mumbles. Liam smiles back before turning around and walking away along with the woman beside him and the little girl. Jennie stared at them and felt her heart shatters from the sight.
