Racheals POV
My phone vibrated again in my hand. I looked down at my phone and realized I've been sent an image. I clicked on it.A gasp escaped me as I stared at a picture of Derek dead with the same knife used to stab lizzie in his chest.
" what happened?" Vincent asked beside me that's when I realized I was screaming. I stared down at the phone in my hand as tears ran down my eyes.
He must have seen the photo cos he cursed and took the phone from my hands and pulled me into him.
I buried my face in his chest trying to get rid of the image of Derek's dead body off my head. "Why" I muttered into his chest. "I'll find out who did this" he whispered in my ear pulling me closer.
"Police station" I whispered. "Police station" I whispered again stepping out of his embrace. "I need to go to station" I said and was about to brush past him but he held me back.
"I'll take you" he said and I nodded not having the strength in me to argue. He led me out the house into his car and drove out the driveway.
*
I hopped out of the car immediately it came to a stop in front of the station and headed straight inside.I rushed into the station and noticed it was busier than usual with a few forensics around. I pushed through the police officers and rushed to officer Sander's cubicle. I immediately spotted him there with his phone glued to his ear as he rummaged around his desk for something.
I cleared my throat quietly to alert him of my presence. He gave me a calm smile whispered something to the person on the other side of the phone and ended the call.
"Good day Miss Davison, please have a seat" he said pointing at the chair I sat on a few days ago, I made myself comfortable as I looked around the place nervously as he did the same.
"What brings you here today?" He asked wounding his fingers together on the table.
"The last time we spoke you said you were going to bring Derek into police custody and question him?" I asked and he nodded putting me at ease a little "can I see him pls" I asked anxiously. He pressed his lips together as he stared quietly at his desk table with his brows crunched together in deep thought.
"Miss Davison, Derek got killed in police custody three hours ago" he said and I sucked in a breath. "How?"
"We don't know ourselves but we are working on it" he said and I bit my lip in thought.
"So what's going to happen to Lizzie's case" Vincent spoke behind me. I didn't even notice he followed me in.
"The case is going to get closed" he said and I gasped in shock "you can't do that" I said
"It isn't up to me okay? The prime suspect's dead hell I was pretty sure he was the killer, since he refused to say shit about anything. His death is going to be labeled as suicide. The knife was taken to the forensics lab, only his fingerprints were found on it. CCTV camera didn't show anything" he said leaning back into his seat.
"Derek's not the killer" I said as Vincent handed me back my phone I unlocked it opened the message and showed it to officer Sanders
He took it front my hands and stared at the screen for a while, I could practically see the wheels in his head turning. Yeah shit just got complicated.
He pulled his phone out of my pocket and took a picture of the message, the photo, the phone number and handed my phone back to me.
"I'll send this in to see if the number can be tracked, in the meantime stay safe and try not to go anywhere alone Miss Davison" he said and I nodded.
"Have a nice day and thank you once again for your cooperation" he said. I thanked him quietly stood and left the police station with Vincent following closely behind.
He opened the passengers door for me helped me in, made sure I was comfortable and closed the door. He went around the car slipped in drove out of the parking lot and into the streets of burkham.
Vincent pulled up in front of the house as I mumbled a thank you and quietly slipped out of the car. I stepped into the house avoiding eye contact with Mason and the others sitting in the living room, headed straight to my room and locked the door behind me.
I slid down the door and sobbed. I didn't like Derek but I didn't want him dead. He and lizzie are dead because of me. I sobbed harder at that thought. I gasped and dropped my phone when it vibrated in my hand.
I took a calming breath, grabbed the phone off the floor and woke the screen. My shoulder eased in relief when I realized it was from our dance group.
I tapped the message icon and slipped into the group chat. I scrolled through the chat catching up with things I missed and chuckled as I read through my dance mates bickering but the smile slowly slipped from my face as I read the condolence messages for lizzie. I turned off the screen dropped the phone on the floor and held my head in my hands with a sigh.
I got off the floor and headed over to my closet peeled off the gown I've been in since morning and went into the bathroom.
I turned on the shower letting the chilly water drench me completely as I stood under the shower with my palms placed flat on the wall.
I stayed under the water for a while before I turned it off stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around myself.
I did my skincare wrapped my hair in a messy bun and exited the bathroom. I pulled a Cotten short along with a tank top and slipped under the covers feeling more determined than ever.
