Racheals pov,
My phone's nonstop ringing brings me out of my slumber and then it stops. But before I could go back to sleep, it started again."For fucks sake" I cursed grabbed the phone off my bedside table and answered the call. "Hello" I said stiffening a yawn.
"Don't tell me you are still asleep by now" my mother said from the other side making my eyes snap open.
"I'm not" I said sitting up straight all traces of sleep off my eyes. "Good, have you prayed this morning" she asked "not yet ma"
"You need to be stronger in your faith, pray more of- "
"okay my turn"someone interrupted her followed by shuffling and low murmuring.
"Hey sweetie" my dad spoke from the other side. "Hi dad" i mumbled.
"How you doing sweetie?" he asked and my eyes watered. "I miss her" I said blinking back tears as my throat closed up.
"I know honey, everything's gonna be fine. I promise. We're sorry we missed the funeral pumpkin we'll make it up to you and Lizzie's family okay" he said and I mumbled an okay in response.
"Hold on sweetie" he called followed by a set of mumbles "honey I gotta go we'll talk sometime tomorrow I love you" he said and ended the call.
"Love you too" I mumbled into the phone and tossed it aside. I slid off the bed and headed to the bathroom. My mother is the definition of a strong believer of God, the kind of believer that prefers to pray when she's sick than go to the doctor.
I peeled off my clothes and tossed them into the laundry bag. I turned on the shower adjusted it to the right temperature and stepped in.
I turned off the shower when I was done wrapped a towel around my frame and stepped out.
I walked back into my bedroom opened my closet, grabbed a baggy jean and tee shirt shrugged them on, paired them with some black Jordan's, adjusted my curly hair in the mirror, applied lipgloss and I was good to go.
I grabbed my tote bag from the closet slipped my phone, lipstick and other essentials and exited the room.
The sound of chatting and laughter became louder as I neared the dining room until I was close enough to identify whose voice was whose. But it soon reduced and died down completely as soon as I came into view.
"Morning Rach, how was your sleep?" Sarah asked cheerfully but I could see she was biting back the where are you going question. I just nodded a reply to her and took a seat on one of the barstools by the counter trying not to make eye contact with any of them. I don't want their pity.
"I'll be going to classes today I have a lot to catch up on" I said quietly as I grabbed a banana off the bowl, peeled it open and took a bite.
"Are you sure? I don't really think it's a good idea" Cassie said sharing a look of concern with Sarah.
"If she wants to go then so be it" Vincent said and I looked up to see he was already staring at me. I took a bite of my banana to hide the smile threatening to show.
There was a moment of silence before they went back to what they were doing.
I felt someone's gaze burning a hole into my head. I looked up expecting to meet Vincent's gaze but was met with Mason's .
"I'm here for you if you need anything" Mason whispered quietly I gave him a small smile and turned my gaze downwards but my eyes found Vincent who stood with brows crunched as he stared at Mason.
"Okay I'm out, I have a class that's about to start in fifteen minutes" Cassie said, bids everyone goodbye as she exits the kitchen with Mason hot on her tail as he gives us a small wave.
I think there's something going on between those two and with the way Sarah's eyes follow them out the door says she's having the same thoughts as me.
"What time does your classes start?" Vincent asked suddenly behind me.
"In an hour" I said trying to sound nonchalant even though him being close to me is making me uneasy.
"Come get me when you're ready to go" he said and brushed the tip of his finger on my lower back as he passed. I watched his silhouette disappear down the corridor as the place his fingers grazed burned till I felt it in my core.
I puffed out a breath and slipped off the stool and headed out the house ignoring the burning stares of Asher and Sarah.
I ordered an Uber which was five minutes away and took a deep breath. You can do this, just go about your day like you don't have a freaking stalker breathing down your neck. I thought and straightened my stance.
I walked down the street so Vincent won't notice me standing outside the house. The Uber pulled up a minute early and I slipped in after confirming it was my ride.
*
The Uber pulled up at the front gate. I stepped out paid and tipped the driver for the good service and headed inside.
I walked in and inhaled the smell of rich children and expensive tobacco raffles as I walked silently through the bustling students and headed over to the choreography studio.
I slowed down as I approached the choreography studio cos a part of the studio building has a very big picture of lizzie pinned to the wall, with different kinds of flowers and teddy bears surrounding it. My eyes welled up at the sight of it.
"Racheal" I turned around at the sound of my name to see Felix and Anna two other members of my dance group approach.
"Hey girl" Anna said giving me a side hug while Felix fist bumped me.
"It's good to see you're back, you have a lot to catch up on" Anna said excitedly as she jumped around me.
"It feels good to be back" I said as we headed into the studio. I never realized how much I missed this place
