I always thought the Cell was all too intimidating. Heck, Bijou made some dubious recall of the place in regards to the name of it. It was supposed to be a common noun. The cell. Its power level was apparently too much, so they had to capitalize its title in order for it to not explode into oblivion, like the capitalization was preventing itself from ending, as if they didn't have a choice in the matter and did it right away to prevent annihilation of its existence.
Another ironic statement here akin to gospel is that this super-dimensionally complex monolith was deprived of security. The authorities, as the protectors of its external structure was stationed hundreds of thousands of miles apart. And for more information on that part, the reasoning of that distance was in order to carry out efficient management of their guards and coordination in minimizing risks between the two facilities. The prisoners didn't need any protecting or guarding. The Cell was a primary guardian itself, but the exception were these five breaking out of it. Shockingly, in the glossaries of space, those miles were acknowledged as close proximity. Space vehicles and teleportation was more prevalent here. If Earth had such things... Well... I'd just fear inflation and imposition of other financial burdens placed on us common people to test these things out. Russ Cook could cry a river with nearly 10,000 miles across Africa.
Standing here with this odd bunch, it was hard to take anything too seriously. But, I did feel proud of them, regardless of their pasts. They were willing to change and I was willing to make things good for them. Whether it was by fate or by accident, I didn't want to lose them. They were beginning to feel like family.
Despite the cell's ominous appearance (it was, there was no other way to describe it), the aura of menace was undercut by the girls' attitudes. What should have been a place of fear and dread felt more like a poorly set stage for an odd, mismatched performance. They looked like they were still back at my place, wondering where we'd be going or what food we'd eat for the next hour or so. I had initially presumed girls like these who were multitudes of degrees above any other species were just unfazed by even the most chaotic of events, such as killing clones of themselves. I would be pissing my pants. Mentally, I was doing that right now, wondering if I was going to get out of this alive. But, their expressions did have me relieved. It kind of told me that this wasn't their first rodeo of experiencing bullshit at maximum difficulty.
I could recall reading from a lengthy discussion on the Internet about the Xenomorph in Alien Isolation when it came to its killing intent. It was prideful to the point that it took offense at the mere sight of a living being existing in its vicinity or existing at all in the same plane as it. It was that swellheaded. I wasn't certain about the truth of that statement but I was wondering what the girls were thinking of this. Shiori had basically read this would happen but what did she think of when she read every single word that every single thing happening right now would materialize? What kind of ending would she have wanted from it? It was best to ask her.
"Truthfully? I am offended. I don't mind people cosplaying me but to actually have every facet of my life copied and to kill me as a requisite, well!" Shiori folded her arms in disapproval, her delicate frame belied her fierce capabilities. But despite looking offended, her expression was one of mild curiosity toward this, as if she were about to ask if anyone had a spare hair tie.
Beside her was Nerissa, and Fuwawa and Mococo, the inseparable duo, engaged in a heated game of rock-paper-scissors, their faces scrunched in intense concentration. Their fluffy ears twitched with every move, their competitive spirits seemingly oblivious to the doom that was going to befall both them and me in a matter of seconds, if we were to open that damn door.
