AARON BLACKWOOD
"Im free tomorrow evening. We can meet tomorrow if u want"
I was sure. I was fucking sure that I was seeing stuff. Because there is no way she has written this.
The clock was ticking but I was still staring at the same text. Few dots appeared underneath her name but vanished again.
Two minutes passed and another text appeared.
"Im sorry if i made u feel uncomfortable. We don't have to meet if u dont want to."
I read her text again. Is she serious? I don't want to? Of course I want to. I want it so much that my heart starts beating rapidly whenever I think of her.
My brain stops working whenever I think of her.
"Of course we can meet. Im sorry it took me so long to reply. I just can't believe u want to meet outside the library."
It has been almost eight months since me and Lana started dating. And the only place we meet is the library where we first met.
Only my best friend Rory, who is also my cousin, knows about my relationship with Lana. Even though Lana told me to keep it a secret, Rory figured things out.
But now I think my sister is also suspicious. She didn't ask me anything nor did I tell her something. This is probably the first time I have hidden something from her.
I love my sister so much and it doesn't feel right to lie to her when I go to meet Lana. She is not strict. She would never force me to do something I don't want to. But I'm just respecting Lana's decision.
She once told me her family is full of rich assholes and she doesn't want to share anything about her life with any of them. And she also said they are dangerous.
I never asked anything else about her family. I just know she has got a big, like really big rich family and somehow they are all somehow dangerous.
And that is why she would like to keep our relationship a secret. I didn't really mind it because she alone was enough for me. Whatever she likes matters for me as well. If she doesn't like her family then I don't either.
But I was sure she would love mine. My family is exactly opposite to hers. It is small but it is everything and the best thing ever. And it is my elder sister, Daisy. No one can take her place in my life.
It is not just Daisy though. I grew up with the most amazing people around me. Damon, who is my eldest cousin, is like a brother to me and daisy. Then I also have Luca and Aurora. We are not biologically related but they feel like family too.
"There is this new park behind the library. I wanted to explore it with u." I stared down at Lana's, trying my best not to smile like crazy.
"Sure. just text me the time. I will be there."
She sent me a big red heart but quickly deleted it and sent a thumb. Scratching the back of my neck I put my phone back in my pocket.
"Be careful, Blackwood. Your cheeks are going to hurt." I looked up and saw Daisy putting the two plates of spaghetti on the table for dinner.
I also got up to help her. "I'm not smiling." she stopped for a second. "Yea sure, smartass." I smiled but didn't say anything.
"Take two extra knives and forks." Daisy said as I was about to close the utensil drawer. "Who is coming?" I asked even though I knew.
"Aurora and her brother." Daisy was checking out the flowers on the kitchen counter to avoid eye contact. "Oh, Luca you mean?" I asked, playing dumb.
Daisy rolled her eyes. "No, Brad Pitt! Who else?" I laughed and took the extra utensils out. Aurora is Daisy's best friend. Luca was also her friend but recently there seems to be something more between them.
Even though we all know, none of us said anything. Honestly, I couldn't get happier. Luca is probably the best guy for her and she deserves the world.
Minutes later Luca and Aurora arrived. I greeted them both. Daisy and Aurora practically threw themselves onto each other even though they saw each other yesterday and we live almost 20 minutes away.
I was staring at Luca and Daisy and didn't miss the awkward handshake and side hug between them. I noticed the bright pink tip of Daisy's ears.
All three of them attend the same university. Different majors of course. I just know that Daisy studies business.
We were all eating and chatting until another door bell interrupted us. "Did you invite someone over?" Daisy asked me and I shook my head.
"Let me check." Luca got up to get the door. And seconds later my cousins barged in with a scream. "SURPISEEE."
It was Rory and Damon. They were out of town to visit their parents and weren't supposed to come back until the vacation ended. We all got up and made our way to them.
Luca and Damon did their handshake and hugged. They were good friends. I made my way to my best friend and hugged her.
"By the way, I decided what you can give Lana for her birthday." Rory whispered in my ear and I gave her an appreciative nod.
Minutes later laughter filled in our living room as always. Everyone praised Daisy's cooking. She is actually a good cook. Like a really good one.
I thanked God even though I am not particularly religious.
