DAISY BLACKWOOD

The next day after university, I drove directly to the new house. Aaron said he will be here in an hour. In the meantime I started cleaning.

After almost thirty minutes I hear the doorbell. Did Aaron come early? I opened the door and saw the person I wasn't expecting.

Rose.

"Brought the brushes Aaron was supposed to bring." she showed me the bag. I opened the door wider so she could enter.

"Where is Aaron?" "With Anthony and dad. They're playing some stupid sport." I nodded and unpacked the brushes. She was observing the house in the meantime. I also took out the colour mixture that I did before. "Don't tell me you're planning on colouring the whole house." "Okay I won't tell."

She rolled her eyes at my sarcasm. Rory would've burst into laughter if she was here. There was an awkward moment of silence. I just realised this is the first time we are alone after finding out she's my sister.

"Do you need something in particular?" "Umm no. I will just mix the rest of the colours and go home." she nodded. It seemed like she didn't want to leave soon. And the weird part is I wanted her to stay. Probably because it's the perfect time to get to know her?

"I can show you around if you want."  She shrugged as if it's no big deal but I caught the glimpse of excitement in her eyes. I was proud. I could see that Rose liked it. "You have to do a lot of work though." "I know. That's why Rory, Damon, Aurora and Luca decided to help on the weekends."

She went silent for a moment before asking "So all the extra rooms are for them?" "I mean yea. Basically anyone who wants to stay." "Anyone?" "Not a stranger of course." she nodded. "Didn't you say you have to mix colour? I have nothing to do. I can help." "Okay."

We both worked for a couple of hours. There was not a lot of talking. Rose played her playlist while we were working. After getting hungry I made a simple shakshuka, thanks to Damon for buying some vegetables the other day.

"Can you cook?" I asked Rose as we were cooking. "If boiling water counts as cooking then I can."

Oh, such a great cook.

"Anyway. So what are your plans for the upcoming week?" "My plans? Why?" "Answer the question, Daisy." "I have no plans. I mean it's the usual." she nodded. "Why though?" "It's our birthday next week." Ohhh. I completely forgot.

"Shit that's why Rory and others aren't spending much time with me." "What do they have to do with it?" "We plan a surprise party every year for each one of us." "Oh."

"What do you do on your birthday? Dad must throw you a big fancy party." "He wants to but I don't like it. Last time he threw me a party was when I was seventeen. I told him not to anymore."

Ah. I wanted to ask why but we didn't seem close enough for that.

"I just spend the day with Anthony and have dinner with Dad and Isabella. But this year I think dad will throw a big party. I heard him on the phone yesterday."

"And you're okay with it?" "We all have had major changes in our life, Daisy. I am not going to be a self centred bitch and try to make it all about myself. If dad wants to do it for his daughters then the least I can do is accept it."

Okay.

"Umm, would you like to come to the party that Rory and others will throw? It's not that big. It's just our cousins and my friends." I asked, feeling hopeful since she still hasn't met any of them officially.

"Just because I am talking to you, doesn't mean I will do the same with them."

Bitch.

"Well, they're not dying to talk to either. And they are far better than your friends." "None of them are my friends except Giulia." I scoffed.
