DAISY BLACKWOOD

"Thank you so much." The older lady smiled at me warmly. "You deserved it, dear. And you can join from next Monday."

I smiled back at her and made my way outside where Luca was already standing with my coffee.

I ran towards him before wrapping my arms around his neck tightly. He was struggling to hug me back since both of his hands were busy. But I didn't care. I was just way too happy.

I pulled back and we both stared at each other for a second. His light grey eyes were warm and welcoming. Without thinking much I placed my lips onto his.

After a good two seconds I pulled out and he smiled at me.

"I told you you are going to get the job." Luca said and I just smiled. It was his idea actually.

This is a part time job but in a well known company. Opportunities like these are pretty rare. They don't usually hire people for part time except in the summer.

But Luca told me to give it a try since he is also doing a similar engineering part time job. We both are still studying so we didn't have the time for an official job.

I used to work in the finance department of a local bar. The pay was good but not good enough. So Luca told me to apply for the same position in a company and here we are.

The payment here is pretty solid. I'll be able to provide for Aaron and still save a lot of money. So paying for Aaron's college will be easier.

I recently found out that Aaron is doing bad at school and the reason being he is also doing part time jobs.

But as his elder sister and his only guardian I would do anything to make his life easier.

Recently he is keeping a lot of things to himself which I don't mind. I think he is seeing someone but this is beyond the point. I know my brother. I know he wouldn't do random flings. So he is going to tell me eventually.

He is going to be eighteen next year so of course he has his own life and he is free to do whatever he wants.

But I didn't want him to lose his focus on studies because of some part time jobs. When I confronted him, he said he wanted to help me as well. He doesn't want to be a burden on my shoulder.

I almost had tears in my eyes when he said that. I sat him down and gave a life speech. Which was a bit dramatic to be honest but I tried my best to explain to him that he is not my burden. He is my own blood and flesh and he is the only one I have.

We both cried for a while after that. He told me how grateful he was to have me and how proud mom would have been if she was here.

My mom, my best friend. I still can't believe that I lost her and it has been almost seven years since the incident.

"Thank you, Luca." instead of replying he gave me a small peck.

Luca is the brother of my best friend, Aurora. I met him through Aurora and Damon about five years ago. Him and Aurora are completely different.

He is responsible, cautious and mature. Everything that Aurora isn't. Everyone always made fun of me and Luca and how similar we are to each other.

And it's true. I have never found anyone whose thoughts mirror mine completely. Luca is kind, responsible and handsome. He is the type of guy your parents will say yes to immediately.

He is someone who doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, doesn't sleep around. In easier language, the greenest flag.

We started as friends even though we both liked each other from the beginning. And we made it official about two months ago. No one was actually surprised. As if they saw it coming from a mile away.

So I don't really believe the saying "opposite attracts each other". Me and Luca are similar and we are happy.
