A MONTH LATER
LANA LEVINE
Today is my birthday. I turned 17 today. I was feeling overwhelmed which was nothing new but also grateful. So grateful for having Aaron in my life.
I wish I was with him instead of my siblings and parents. We usually have breakfast together when it's mine or Noah's or Giulia's birthday.
I was sitting on the dining chair with the rest of my family except Noah. I was the only one in pyjamas.
My dad was wearing his usual suit. My mom's wearing an elegant dress from Chanel and her perfect red lipstick. Her blonde hair rests in a clean low bun.
And beside her was my sister, Giulia. She was checking her nails which she got done two days ago but she is going to redo them today. She was wearing dark blue jeans and a violet cardigan. Her make up was perfectly done and so was her dirty blonde hair.
My sister was beautiful. Like gorgeous. Only if she was like that from the inside.
Meanwhile I was wearing my green pyjamas with a messy bun. They never forced me to wear elegant shit like them but they would appreciate it if I do. Well, I would also appreciate it if they stop acting like we are on netflix and behave like a normal family. But we don't always get what we want now, do we?
Our heads turned towards the stairs as we heard Noah coming. He was also fully ready but not like them. It was his usual outfit. A t-shirt, jeans and a black leather jacket
He was late and dad was mad. I am pretty sure he does it on purpose to piss dad off. He has his internal beef going on with dad. Even though no one talks about it, everyone can feel the tension.
He came toward me with a smile and hugged me as I was sitting. And for the first time today, I let out a genuine smile. Even though I am not a big fan of his, I still love and care for him. And he is probably the only family member who actually cares for me.
"Happy birthday, sweetheart." He said as he planted a kiss on top of my head. "Thank you, Noah." He pulled out a small box from his pocket and gave it to me.
I opened it and it was a beautiful bracelet. I hugged him once again as he wrapped it around my wrist.
"Can't you be just on time for once?" Dad asked without looking at Noah as he was reading something from his tablet.
"Well, didn't realise you couldn't breathe without me, daddy." "Noah." my mom warned him and dad looked like he wished he had worn a condom 23 years ago. "Mind your language when you are talking to me and living in my house."
"Well spoiler alert, I don't live here anymore." He's right. He occasionally comes here. He lives with our other cousin aka Cal.
My dad's fists clenched while Noah's grin was getting wider. "And just so you know..." "Noah, please." I held onto his jacket and he stopped.
"Anyway, I'm going out and will be back at the party." yea right. My birthday party. Gosh, I wanted to skip that shit so bad.
Before anyone could say anything he made his way outside but not before pulling a strand of Giulia's hair. "Asshole!" Dad looked at Giulia and she silently apologised.
After having breakfast with my family I was back in my room again, chatting with Aaron. I was planning on slipping away from the party to meet with him. I knew it was risky but I had to see him.
I was smiling like a fool when someone knocked on my door. I quickly turned off my phone. "Come in." It was Giulia. She didn't enter. She was holding the door handle. "Get ready. We are going shopping."
