DAISY BLACKWOOD

I was staring at my coffee machine as I turned it on. The pounding headache in my temples, threatening to split my skull into two.

I sank onto a chair. The events of last night played over in my mind like a broken record, the smell of blood was making me nauseous.

My hands reached for the packet of painkillers in a drawer, my fingers fumbling with the packet as the tears filled in my eyes.

My brother was going to be okay, the doctors had assured me, but the worry and fear that had gnawed at me all night wouldn't easily fade away.

A couple of his ribs were broken. He had to go through a surgery because of the internal bleeding. And there were bruises all over his body.

Damon was with Aaron at the moment. Rory and I were together the whole night. She is the one who handles every phone call. I couldn't bring myself to talk.

Luca and Aurora called me hundreds of times but I couldn't pick up. Didn't want to pick up. They were out of the country for a week. It was one of their relative's weddings.

My fingers curled into a fist as I thought of those people again. People who brought my brother to this state.

Aaron always wanted to learn fighting but I was against it. It was dangerous and he could get hurt easily. He didn't learn it because I told him not to.

And I was wrong. If he knew how to fight he wouldn't be on that hospital bed today. When I saw him lying on the ground I felt like someone ripped my heart out of my chest.

Tears streamed down my face as I was replaying last night in my mind. I still don't know what happened exactly and why that happened.

I was so overwhelmed by what happened yesterday that I couldn't ask Rory anything.

'I have to talk to you. Come over within an hour.' I texted Rory.

Rory answered me with a thumbs up. Drinking my coffee I went to take a shower.

After coming out of the shower, I was about to dry my hair but the doorbell interrupted me. I looked at the clock on the wall. It has been thirty minutes.

Rory isn't the type to come this fast.

ROSE FERRARI

Daisy Blackwood. Aaron Blackwood.

After staring at the nameplates for almost a minute I decided to ring the bell. I have to find out the truth.

So they took my mother's last name. Her name is Jasmine Blackwood. But I don't see her name here. Could she be living somewhere else?

Getting the address was not easy. I had to push Lana's button a lot for it. But when I said I will help her contact Aaron again. She gave me Rory's address as she didn't know Aaron's exact address.

And since they live in the same area it was easier to find the address.

Their neighbourhood was completely different than ours. It was small, calm and less crowded.

Small houses with colourful flower-filled gardens lined the riverbanks. Children played along the riverbanks, their laughter echoing through the serene surroundings as they skipped stones across the shimmering water.

It felt like another dimension.

Finally the door opened.

A sharp gasp left her mouth and she stared at me with wide eyes. So she didn't see me yesterday.
