Summary: Someone picks Sugar up for dinner and afterwards, they get to know each other a little bit.

I woke up maybe an hour after I closed my eyes, and sat up, looking at the time. Dinner was in 30 minutes.

Standing up and walking over to my mirror, I scoffed at my reflection once again.I looked around my room again, noticing a desk in the corner with a pen and notebook on top.

I went closer to it and upon inspection I realized it was a journal.

Caine probably puts these in each of our rooms to give us something to do so we don't lose our f&*^%$g minds.

So I sat down, picked up the pencil, and began writing.

I don't really know what to put in here other than I want to go home.

The only upside to being here was meeting some cool people.

Zooble seemed chill and a little cold, but they were nice to be around- and unintentionally funny, too.

Gangle was sweet and didn't deserve the rudeness Jax gave to her all of the time. Despite being stuck half the time with her sad mask, she had emotions too and should be treated like the rest of us.

Ragatha was kind and soothing to be around. Her mere presence screamed "It's going to be okay".

I didn't speak much with Kinger after Hide N' Seek, but he seemed...out of it.

Kaufmo told many jokes while we were looking for Jax, half of them were genuinely funny, and the other half told you he was about to go coo-coo.

Caine was over loud and too happy for what he was putting us through. It was kind of freaky.

Bubble... What's going on between Bubble and Caine anyways? Are they dating? Is this some kind of weird sugar daddy thing?

And then there's Jax. He's annoyingly stubborn and rude and always wants his way. (This much I gathered from the others, who constantly complain about him under their breath). But for some strange reason, my heart tells me he can truly be a good person. Like, maybe he's not as much of an asshole as he makes himself out to be. He's also surprisingly handsome, for a bunny, anyway. What the fuck am I even saying anymore? Where have my standards gone?

As I set down my pen, I sighed, putting my face in my hands and trying to cool myself down.

"Is that really what you think of me shortcake?" I heard from behind me and I jumped up, shrieking out of surprise.

"What the f&%k Jax!?" I yelled, catching his smirk and mocking eyes. "I locked my door! How the heck did you get in here?"

He reaches into his pocket, pulling out a red key with green on the top, spinning it around his finger, grinning widely.

"I got keys to everywhere, sugar cube," he winks, replacing the key back into his pocket and leaning in close to my face. "But don't worry, I'm not that crazy~"

"Not that crazy to do what exactly?" I ask him, still slightly flustered at his sudden appearance.

"If I was crazy enough to do it, you'd know!" He smiles widely and leans back, heading towards the door. What is up with this guy? "Any-who, dinner's in a few minutes! Caine sent me to check up on ya, newbie. Come out when you're done fawning over me, 'kay?" he left without another word, leaving the door open behind him.

This guy has serious mental problems.

...

After mustering up as much courage as I could, I arrived for dinner shortly after Jax's unexpected visit.

Everyone was already in place, chatting away at the empty table.

"Oh- hey, Sugar! Dinner is just about to come out so you have perfect timing!" Ragatha beckoned me over to sit in the seat next to her, unfortunately for me the seat on the other side was occupied by Jax himself, looking smug at me.

I sighed, taking my seat between the two and making small talk with Ragatha until dinner arrived.

Caine suddenly popped up out of nowhere, announcing that the dinner had been made by Bubble, who was supposedly "head chef".

"Made with all the LOVE I can legally give~" she said, waving a knife around in the air and disappearing with Caine shortly after.

I shook my head and looked down the table at everyone's plates.

They all had something slightly different but still within the dinner category.

Then I looked at my plate.

There, in all its glory, was a piece of strawberry shortcake.

Jax snorted from beside me.

"You had them do this, didn't you?" I asked annoyedly to the purple bunny, who was trying his hardest to remain composure.

"I- Whatever do you mean?" he replied in a fake posh accent, annoying me further. This guy really knew how to push my buttons.

I shrugged and took a bite of the food, which was surprisingly really good.

Once dinner was finished, we all made our way back to our rooms.

Everyone talked happily on the way, satisfied with their full stomachs.

I stayed slightly behind the group and watched as they all interacted as if they were all best friends for life.

I looked down, trying to remember if I had any of that before I ended up here, and couldn't come up with a single memory of any sorts.

I sighed and continued to lurk behind the rest as they slightly dispersed, having passed their rooms.

Once Ragatha and Zooble said their goodnights and closed their doors, it was only me and Jax, our rooms being the furthest down the hall.

Jax must have noticed I was back a little further and slowed down his speed, now walking beside me with one hand in his pocket and the other swinging loosely at his side.

"So, how was your first dinner at 'THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS'?" Jax asked, mocking Caine's loud and extra accent, making me chuckle a little.

"It was rather sweet," I responded, giving him a slight side eye, which he returned.

"Anyone could've guessed that, I suppose," he snorted, nudging my shoulder with his own.

"Jokes aside though, that s&%t was pretty good," I say, smiling.

He laughs again and for some reason, my face heats up at the sound.

"Always is, sugar cube. I mean, with all the love you're legally allowed to give? That's gotta be a ton, right?" he joked, his smile never leaving his face.

"I would assume so."

After our laughter calmed down, we walked the rest of the way in a comfortable silence.

Once we reached our rooms, Jax cleared his throat.

"Well, I'll see you in the morning, then, shortcake," he said, and I swear I saw a hint of blush on his cheeks.

"See you in the morning, bunny."

END OF CHAPTER THREE

Hope you guys liked this chapter. I'm trying to further progress their relationship as friends before all of that kissy shit, but I have a feeling it's going a little faster than I originally planned.

I may dial it back on the lovey-dovey stuff for now but let me know what you guys think.

Dial it back and make it a tad more slowburn?
