Jax slapped a palm to his forehead after our 23rd door.
"Sugarcube~ this really would go a lot faster if we split up. I'm sure the others are waiting for us by now," he said, trying to sound as sweet as possible.
I groaned. "Jax, please. Just listen to me, okay? We'll end up thrown apart if we split up. We won't be able to find each other."
Jax rolled his eyes. He really was infuriating sometimes.
"Jax, please. Just hold out for a little longer and I'm sure if we make everyone wait long enough they'll call Caine to come and find us."
"Just for a little bit? Only like, four doors and then we'll meet back, deal?"
"Will it get you to shut up?"
He shrugged, smirking. "Maybe."
I rolled my eyes before sighing and shaking my head at his childish antics.
We went across the hallway from each other and peeked into the doors on our sides.
Nothing.
I looked back at Jax. "Anything?"
Jax suddenly screamed and his arm got yanked into the open door as he struggled against the door frame, crying for help.
"Jax!" I rushed over to help him, only for him to laugh and pull his completely uninjured arm out of the door, wiggling it around and moving to his next door.
I grumbled to myself on the way to my next door.
This door I opened next was filled top to bottom with baby doll heads.
Creepy.
I stepped in just a little bit, peeking around for any sign of an exit, but I felt two hands on my back push me into the door as the door slammed shut with a loud squeak.
My eyes widened as I stood up from the floor before jiggling the stationary door handle. It was locked.I rapped against the door with my fist, shouting for Jax.
"This- this isn't funny, Jax! O-Open the damn door!"
"Sugar?" I heard quietly from the other side of the room. I whipped around to see Jax himself standing near another door that seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
I walked towards him, suddenly feeling like I was being drawn in.
{JAX POV}
I turned around once I heard the door slam.
"You good, Sugarcube? I know you're mad but- Sugar?" I looked around, not spotting the pink skinned girl anywhere.
I ran to the last door she was at and banged on the cracking wood.
"Sugar!?"
My eyes were widened.
Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to split up.
{SUGAR POV}
"Come on, Sugar. I found the exit."
His voice was smooth and sultry as usual but it almost felt...emotionless.
"Jax are you okay?"
He turned around to no longer have the face of Jax, but of-
"Kaufmo? What- what's going on?"
"First you lost me, now Jax? Do you even know what's happening to him out there now that he's alone?" His voice was scratchy and staticy.
My eyes were wide as saucers. "I- I thought you were Jax!" I began to back up, my back hitting the wall.
"You left him. Now, he's going to die~"
"Goodbye Sugar."
The floor beneath me turned to a watery substance before I dropped in, the Kaufmo-Jax hybrid disappearing as I plunged below the surface.
I hurriedly swam to the surface, only to find there wasn't one. It felt like a sheet of glass was covering the freedom to air. I was suffocating, drowning, whatever you want to call it- it was happening to me.
The air left my lungs and I felt myself slowly succumbing to the darkness around me.
The last thing I remember is something clasping around my ankle and pulling me further to my impending doom.
