Summary: Understanding and a unicorn horn.

{SUGAR POV}

The next morning, I still thought about Ragatha's advice. I had a nice, well earned sleep and had a fresh mind set to wake up to. I checked the time- 10:36- I had missed breakfast.

Which was strange, because normally Jax wakes me up before I can. He's probably still shook from yesterday or something.

I got up, stretched, fixed my hair and cleaned myself up before walking to the main commons area, where I saw Gangle, Jax, and Ragatha all playing baseball.

I walk up and listen to what Ragatha says to Gangle.

"So, you just wind your arm backwards in a big circle, release right at the bottom, and follow through," She spoke in a kind, soft voice towards Gangle who nodded as she took the ball.

Gangle looked at the ball for a second, pondering. "Uh..."

Jax, who was in the middle of the bases that had been set up, sighed dramatically. "You're wasting your time, Raggy."

"Just wait a second," Ragatha voices before noticing me ways behind Gangle. "Hey, Sugar! Come join us! You can be the catcher!" I nod and smile, picking up the catcher's mask, glove, and pads from a box nearby and crouching down behind Gangle.

"That's a nice look on you, Sugarcube," Jax teasingly flirts and I stupidly blush.

"Like this?" Gangle whips her arm around in a circular fashion and Ragatha smiles, giving her the thumbs up. Gangle pitched the ball to Jax and he swings, the ball bouncing off the bat and hitting Gangle in the face. She topples over on top of me and somehow, amidst the chaos, I get tangled up in her ribbons.

"Jax!" Me and Ragatha shout simultaneously.

He looked genuinely concerned and put his head down, almost ashamedly. "I actually didn't mean to do that," he admitted, dropping his bat and walking over as Ragatha helped me untangle myself from Gangle.

"It's okay, Ja-"

"Why do you always gotta do this?" Ragatha's tone was sharp and exact like a knife. Jax and I both were shocked.

"What? I just said it was an accident!"

I step in lightly pushing him back from stepping further towards her. "He did say he didn't mean to. I could tell her didn't mean to hurt her, Rags."

"Unbelievable. First, you mess up Gangle's face, then, you get your girlfriend to side for you? You are unbelievable."

Why was Ragatha being so rude all of the sudden? She was never like this. Even towards Jax. I stepped closer.

"First of all, Gangle's face looked messed up before he hit it- he probably made it look better. And second, don't talk to him like he can't stand up for himself. Ever thought that maybe he's tired of constantly keeping his walls up and that maybe he just wants a break from standing up for himself for once? I get it, he can be annoying or even overbearing sometimes but he truly didn't mean to do it and I don't think you should jump down his throat even after he's said he's sorry," I rambled, my voice raising louder and louder each word, anger bubbling in my blood.

Ragatha looked taken aback before her face contorted in anger once again. "Maybe he should stop being such a jerk all the time and we won't all get so defensive so quickly!"

"Maybe you should consider that his humor is the only way he can cope with the fact that we're all stuck here!"

"Well maybe-!"

"Everyone just shut up!" Jax stops between us, pushing us apart from our close, intimidating stance and looked at me. "Its fine, Sugar. It's okay, really."

There it is again. He's been calling me by my given name so much recently.

I nodded, and Jax looked at Ragatha. "And Raggy, I thought we were friends?" He smirked, resulting in Ragatha rolling her eyes.

"Gangle, are you o-?" I noticed Gangle had went missing in the midst of our madness.

I sighed, walking away with Jax jogging to catch up with me, leaning Ragatha behind.

"Why...did you call me that?" I ask him, my voice unsteady.

He raised a brow. "Your name?" I nodded. "Maybe because, I don't know, it's your name?" He sassed.

"Well it's just, you never call me by my name."

"Does that...bother you?" He asked, tilting his head like a lost puppy.

"Well- no, I'm just not used to it. I'm more used to you calling me like, Sugarcube or shortcake or something."

Jax nodded. "I could call you mine?"

My face quickly distributed A thick red on my cheeks, flushing. "W-what?"

He chuckled at me, putting an arm around my shoulders. "Well you don't think I've forgotten about our little...moment, didya?"

I sighed, shaking my head. "Unfortunately, no."

He raised his eyebrow one again, stepping in front of me to block my path. "So you didn't like it?"

I shook my head, confused. I tried to step around him, saying "no, it's not that, I thought you regretted it or something."

"The kiss?"

"Ugh, yes the kiss, Jax, stop messing around and let me past!"

He snickered, blocking my path again. "Nuh-uh. Not unless you agree."

I rolled my eyes, still trying to leave the awkward conversation. "Agree to what?"

"To go out with me, Sugarcube."

That was what made my movements come to a halt. My eyes went wide like saucers. "Really?"

He rolled his eyes, putting his hands on his hips. "Isn't it obvious?"

I sighed, looking down at the floor and nodding. "I'll- I'll go out with you." I smiled, but my bangs luckily hid it from him.

He leaned down, a hand cupped by his ear. "What was that- OW! Why must you keep hitting me?" he wheezed after I punched his stomach, walking past him.

I laughed. "You heard me, cottontail."

With a wide smile, he followed behind me to where Zooble had taken Gangle- their room.

Pomni and Ragatha were already there. Jax slides into the doorframe with an arm hooked around my waist, casually leaning against the door. Ragatha and I made eye contact but she quickly looked away, ashamed of her outburst from earlier.

"What the heck is this? You're just givin' away parts now?" Jax says, mocking offended.

Zooble crossed their arms, an eyebrow raised. "So what if I am? I'm not giving any to you," They say, scowling.

Jax fakes upset and hisses through his teeth. "Darn. Guess you're never getting that unicorn horn, Pomni."

I couldn't help but snort at Pomni's confused glance. Her face was red- probably from embarrassment- as she talked to Jax. "When did I ever say anything about that?"

Gangle raised her ribbon hand and said with a smile, "I think you'd look good with one."

"It would be cute!" I cut in.

Pomni gets redder and feels her head before shrugging. "Well, it's a possibility-"

"DID SOMEBODY SAY 'ADVENTURE'!?" I jumped at Caine's unshockingly loud voice.

"No...?"
