Summary: As Caine gives the crew an in tent adventure, you have a frightening encounter with insanity itself.
Our adventure for the day had been called "Gather The Gloinks", but Ragatha, Pomni, Jax and I decided to go and check on the one and only, Kaufmo the clown.
Ragatha was currently explaining (ranting) to Pomni, aka, the new stuff, about abstracting and getting to your breaking point.
Jax and I walked beside them, bickering about which cake flavor was better.
"Strawberries are too sweet and make the cake taste like pure sugar. It's absolutely disgusting. Carrot cake is the perfect amount of sweetness and savory, so that you can still have a sweet icing," Jax told me, and I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
"Yeah but carrots- you're only saying that cause you're a bunny boy!"
His face heats up. "Don't ever call me that again."
"Bunny boy?"
"No."
"Bunny boy!!"
"Sugar, no!"
"BuNnY BoY!?"
"Cut it out, princess."
"So we're playing that game now, are we?"
"Oh honey, you were the one that pressed the start button."
We stopped for a minute before bursting into fits of giggles at the stupid argument.
"Okay but seriously, you have sooo many nicknames for me, I need a few for you," I told him, nudging his side with my elbow.
"Like what?"
"Hmm... Well, for starters, Bunny B-"
"Tread lightly."
I laughed, but went on to a different name.
"Okay, what about Ears?"
"Dude, that seriously sucks," he said, his nose scrunching up in distaste.
"Fluffy Butt?"
"Excuse me?"
"Cottontail?"
"Better..." He said, his cheeks a slight pink.
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, but- up yours, Shortcake!"
"Shove it, Cottontail!"
Jax's cheeks grew redder than my dress. "W-whatever..."
I smiled knowing I'd won that argument of many.
We walked until we caught up with Ragatha and Pomni, who were outside Kaufmo's door.
Pomni zoned out, her irises mere scribbles.
I raised a brow and Jax lightly smacked her face twice. She snapped out of it quickly, asking what we were doing here.
"Checking in on a friend." Ragatha pushes the doorbell twice before stepping back.
"Huh. Maybe he's not in his room?" she said, looking between me and Jax, who stepped forward, smug and confident.
"Don't worry, dollface. I got a key to his room," He said, pulling out a key. Ragatha's eyes widened. I only sighed, knowing this was Jax's thing.
"Wha, wait, wh-why?! You-you-you shouldn't have keys to anyone's room!" Ragatha said, shocked.
Jax only shook his head with a wide smirk. "Nah, I've got keys everywhere, and you've all been fine. By the way, I may have left something in your room today, so let me know if you find it. You're not of centipedes, are ya?" I giggled a little at this.
"JAX! That's literally my only fear, why would you do this?!"
He sighed and waved his hand around at her. "What? It could be a totally unrelated question. You'll know it's too late."
I rolled my eyes and pushed open Kaufmo's now unlocked door. I shrieked at the sight of a black pixelated blob with lots of eyes all over its body.
My legs felt like jelly. My brain told me to move, but I was frozen.
This is what abstracting looks like?
Jax's eyes widen and I can see he's fighting back tears. But instead, to shake off that feeling, he puts on a fake smirk. "Oh, I've been looking for this. Thanks for keeping an eye on it, Kaufy. I'm gonna head out, see ya," and he grabbed a light blue bowling ball, then me, running away quickly from the scene.
"Wait! What about Pomni and Ragatha?" I asked, running beside him.
"They'll be fine! Rags knows what to do, trust me! If there were more people around, it would have just made him more angry," he said, and we slowed down our pace to a walk, finally on the bottom level.
"Plus, I don't think I could have seen Kaufmo like that anymore. I just- I can't look at him when he's in so much pain like this," he looks down as we walk, and I comfortingly grab his hand. He looks at me and a hint of a genuine smile is on his face, along with a sweet blush before he looks ahead of him, seeing Kinger and Gangle standing and looking down into a pitch black hole.
"Boy, we're not very good at this, are we?" I hear Kinger say before we're spotted by the two.
"Ugh... sup, fellas?" Jax says, looking frantically around.
"Guys, we found the Zooble hole!" Kinger says, pointing to the hole in front of them.
"That's great, Kinger!" I told them.
"Yeah...cool." Jax rolled his eyes slightly.
Gangle asked how Kaufmo was doing, stating something about Kafumo being upset at her not laughing at his unfunny jokes.
"Oh, he's great. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen him this happy before!"
I roll my eyes but they widen as we hear a loud growl in the background.
"Well, it's good to know he hasn't lost his mind," Kinger said.
Me and Jax share a look. He holds out the bowling ball he picked up earlier.
"He actually told me to give you this," He the ball at him inside, taking Gangle with him.
"Ladies first," Jax said, motioning to the hole.
"I don't know...is that really sa- WAHH JAX, YOU A#%^&*e!" Jax had shoved me and I fell down into the hole, landing on a red slide. Jax jumped in soon after.
When we reached the bottom of the slide, I knocked over three of the remaining four bowling pins, probably having been knocked over by Gangle and Kinger. I groaned as I uncoiled myself from the floor. I had rolled down the entire slide.
I waited and watched for Jax to slide down behind me, and when he did, he gracefully landed on his feet. He kicked over the last bowling pin and when the "SPARE" sign popped up, he broke it over his knee.
I tried to hold back my giggle since I was supposed to be upset that he pushed me down the slide.
He sighed when I looked away from him.
"Enjoy the ride, princess? Cause there's a lot more where that came from," he winks and smirks widely at my red hot face, having gotten the reaction he had hoped for.
He reached a hand down to help me up and I slapped it away.
He mocked offended and watched as I stood up on my own, dusting off my dress. I punched him harshly in the shoulder.
"Ow! What was that for?"
I gave him a look. That was all he needed.
