Alina's POV:

The guns were cocked and the rifles were ready, but their General called them to hold.

"We have a proposition about the war, General Marcel Welcker. Bring your King and Queen here to discuss it." Aleksander called from the boat, the nichevo'ya lurking around him.

The General whispered with his fellow soldiers.

"It depends on the proposition... and why we should listen to you when we are at war." General Marcel replied.

"Well, assuming you all don't want to be swallowed by the Shadow Fold right behind me, or be killed by my Shadow soldiers, I think it would be wise for you to comply with our wishes." Aleksander said, smirking at the scared Fjerdan soldiers.

Soon enough, we were seated in a meeting tent, the nichevo'ya acting as guards around us. Aleksander had also left nichevo'ya around the boat, but also had me bend the light around it to make it disappear from view.

"King Grimjer." Aleksander greeted and nodded his head as the King of Fjerda walked in and settled in the chair across from us. The queen sat at his right.

"King Kirigan. And this must be Queen Alina, nice to finally meet you." King Grimjer said and nodded, his voice icy and wary.

"You as well, King Grimjer." I said as I nodded my head.

"Is this a special occasion King Kirigan? Especially since you have your queen with you." King Grimjer questioned, taking a glance at me.

"It is. This is nothing like the band of Fjerdans and Ravkan rebellions. We are here to talk about your drüskelle and the war."

Wait what? Has Aleksander talked to King Grimjer about me? About me being his queen already? How was he so sure that he'd win?

The Queen Agathe raised her eyebrows and King Grimjer sighed.

"The drüskelle." The King said slowly, running his hand through his balding hair. "What about it?"

Words formed on the tip of my tongue, but I stopped, not knowing if I should speak or not.

"You know very well why we brought up the topic." Aleksander said coldly. "You're killing innocent Grisha just for being who they are."

"Those grisha are witches! They are dangerous and unnatural." Queen Agathe exclaimed.

I felt a tug on the tether between Aleksander and I.

Keep the connection open, so we can converse secretly. I think it would be wise for you to start speaking, because they are both more interested in your opinion than mine.

"And how are they witches? They won't be dangerous as long as they're used for good." I say with a frown.

Queen Agathe scowls. "What about those witches in the red coats- the ones who can stop your heart without even laying a finger on you!?"

"Those Grisha can save lives and calm people down. They only have to use their powers like that to protect themselves from your drüskelle!" I said, and I felt another tug on Aleksander and I's tether.

Good, elaborate more on that and then I'll talk about the proposition.

"If you'd actually give those people a chance instead of killing them right away, you might start to understand what good can come out of their powers."

"Their powers are unnatural!" King Grimjer says, motioning to the nichevo'ya lurking behind us.

"Then give us your Grisha. Give them to us, were they can be safe under Ravka's protection and no longer your problem. Then, stop your drüskelle group from hunting and killing our grisha, and then we will finally have peace between Fjerda and Ravka." Aleksander says.
