Maya left place with a light heart, thinking about the fun shoot and Yoongi's proud smile. As she drove through the city, she felt a sudden, terrifying impact—a flash of headlights, a screech of tires, and the world turned to chaos.
In an instant, everything around her faded to black.
Meanwhile, back at the studio, Hoseok's phone buzzed urgently. He frowned at the unknown number but answered it anyway. The voice on the other end was grave, delivering news that made his blood run cold.
"Mr. Jung? This is Seoul General Hospital. Maya has been in an accident. You're listed as her emergency contact."
Hoseok's heart pounded in his chest. "What? How serious is it? Is she okay?"
"Sir, you need to come to the hospital immediately."
He ended the call, his hands shaking as he turned to Yoongi, who was finishing up some notes. "Yoongi, we need to go. Maya's been in an accident."
Yoongi's world stopped. He stared at Hoseok, not comprehending the words. "What? No, that can't be right. I just saw her."
But the urgency in Hoseok's eyes spurred him into action. Together, they rushed to the hospital, their hearts heavy with dread.
Upon arrival, they were met with somber faces and hushed whispers. A doctor approached them, his expression apologetic. "I'm sorry. We did everything we could."
Yoongi felt the ground slip from beneath him. "No, no, that can't be. Let me see her. Please."
He was led to a room where Maya lay, lifeless and cold. Yoongi's knees buckled as he reached out to hold her hand. "Maya, wake up. Please, wake up," he whispered, tears streaming down his face.
Hoseok stood by, tears in his own eyes, feeling the loss of his best friend. "Yoongi, she is gone," he said, his voice breaking.
Yoongi could barely register his words. "She can't be gone, Hobi. She just can't. We were supposed to have forever."
The doctor gently placed a hand on Yoongi's shoulder. "I'm very sorry for your loss."
Yoongi's tears flowed uncontrollably. He collapsed onto the floor, his sobs echoing in the quiet room. The sheer magnitude of losing Maya hit him like a tidal wave, drowning him in sorrow. The memories of their moments together flashed before his eyes—her laughter, her smile, the way she looked at him with so much love. He clung to her cold hand, feeling utterly helpless and broken.
Yoongi's tears flowed uncontrollably. He collapsed onto the floor, his sobs echoing in the quiet room. He felt numb, as if all the color and warmth had been sucked out of his world. "Maya, you promised. We had so much more to do. Please, come back to me," he pleaded, his voice a broken whisper.
The silence in the room was deafening, the reality of her loss pressing down on him like a crushing weight. Yoongi's heart felt like it was being ripped apart, piece by piece. He felt a hollowness in his chest, a void that could never be filled. Desperation clawed at him as he pleaded with the doctors and nurses to try again, to bring her back, but they just left him, their expressions full of pity and sorrow.
He clung to her hand, hoping against hope that she would respond, that this nightmare would end. But her stillness was a cold confirmation that she was gone. Yoongi's vision blurred with tears, his heartache too vast to comprehend. He felt himself drowning in despair, unable to imagine a world without her. He felt utterly lost, like a part of him had been ripped away.
Reality hit him hard as he woke up in his bed, drenched in sweat, tears still streaming down his face. His phone flashed with Maya's name. He answered it, his voice trembling. "Maya?"
"Yoongi, open the door. I'm outside."
Still disoriented, Yoongi stumbled out of bed and opened the door. There she was, alive and well. He stared at her in disbelief, his heart pounding in his chest. Without thinking, he pulled her into a tight embrace, his body shaking with sobs. The relief was overwhelming, mingling with the remnants of his terror. His fingers dug into her skin, desperate to confirm she was real.
"I'm here, Yoongi. It's just a dream. I'm here," Maya whispered, holding him close.
He couldn't stop crying. "It felt so real, Maya. I thought I lost you," he choked out between sobs. His voice was raw with emotion, the memory of the nightmare still vivid in his mind.
Maya held him tighter, her own eyes brimming with tears. "I had the same dream. I knew you'd be lost in it, too. I had to see you." Her voice was soothing, her touch a balm to his shattered heart.
Yoongi's tears continued to flow. "It was so real. I couldn't bear it. The thought of losing you, it broke me."
Maya stroked his hair, whispering soothing words. "I'm here, Yoongi. I promise I'm not going anywhere. We're together, and that's all that matters."
They stood there for a long time, holding each other tightly. The fear and relief mingled with their tears, reinforcing the bond they shared. Yoongi eventually pulled back slightly, looking into Maya's eyes with a mix of love and gratitude. He could see the same relief and love mirrored in her gaze.
"I don't know what I would do without you," he whispered, his voice trembling with emotion.
"You'll never have to find out," Maya replied, her voice full of conviction. "We're stronger together."
Yoongi held her close again, the nightmare slowly fading away. They moved to the couch, still clinging to each other, needing the reassurance of their physical presence. The dream had shaken them to their core, but it also reminded them of the preciousness of their time together. And as Yoongi held Maya, he vowed to cherish every moment, never taking their love for granted.
"I can't lose you, Maya," Yoongi murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "You're everything to me. I don't know how I would go on without you."
Maya pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead. "You won't have to, Yoongi. I'll be by your side, through thick and thin. We'll face everything together, okay?"
Yoongi nodded, tears still streaming down his face. "Promise me, Maya. Promise me you'll never leave."
Maya cupped his face in her hands, looking deeply into his eyes. "I promise, Yoongi. I'll never leave you. You're stuck with me forever."
They held each other tightly, finding solace in their shared embrace. The weight of the nightmare began to lift, replaced by a renewed sense of gratitude and love.
With a tender smile, Maya brushed Yoongi's hair back and kissed him softly on the lips. "I love you, Yoongi," she whispered against his lips, her voice filled with love and reassurance.
Yoongi closed his eyes, leaning into her kiss, feeling the weight of his fears lifting. "Stay with me tonight," he requested quietly, his voice filled with vulnerability. "I need to feel you beside me, to know you're real."
Maya nodded, her heart aching for him. She caressed his hair gently, soothing him with her touch. "I'll stay with you, Yoongi," she promised, her voice gentle and reassuring. "I'll be right here."
They settled back on the couch, holding each other in the quiet of the early morning. Maya continued to stroke his hair, feeling his body gradually relax as he found peace in her presence. Eventually, exhaustion took over, and Yoongi drifted off to sleep, his breathing steady and calm.
Maya stayed awake a while longer, watching over him with a tender smile. She whispered softly, "I love you, Yoongi. I'll always be here for you." And as he slept peacefully beside her, she vowed silently to keep her promise, to be his anchor through every storm that life might bring.
