The tension between Maya and her family had been unbearable, but as the days passed, Yoongi found himself more determined than ever to make things right. He knew Maya's father needed time, but he also believed that a face-to-face conversation could help bridge the gap.
A week after, Yoongi decided to take a bold step. He didn't want to worry Maya, so he planned to meet her father alone. He discussed his plan with Hobi, who agreed it might be the best approach.
"Are you sure about this?" Hobi asked, concern evident in his voice.
"Yes," Yoongi replied firmly. "Maya doesn't need to know. I want to speak with her father man-to-man. I need to show him how serious I am about his daughter."
Yoongi woke up early, determined to put his plan into action. He left a note for Maya, explaining that he had some important errands to run and would be back later. He didn't want her to worry, so he kept the details vague. With a deep breath, he made his way to Mr. Krishnan's house.
Upon arriving, Yoongi took a deep breath and knocked on the door. Mrs. Janani opened it, her eyes widening in surprise. "Yoongi? What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to talk to Mr. Krishnan," Yoongi said, his voice steady. "I hope that's okay."
Mrs. Janani nodded, stepping aside to let him in. "He's in the living room. I hope this helps mend things."
Yoongi walked into the living room to find Mr. Krishnan sitting on the couch, his expression unreadable. Yoongi bowed respectfully before taking a seat opposite him.
"Thank you for agreeing to meet with me," Yoongi began, his voice sincere. "I wanted to talk to you directly, without Maya knowing, to show you how serious I am about this."
Mr. Krishnan nodded slowly. "I appreciate your effort, Yoongi. I'm willing to listen."
Yoongi took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "Mr. Krishnan, I understand your concerns about our cultural differences and the importance of traditions. I respect that deeply. But I want you to know that my love for Maya is genuine and unwavering. She means everything to me, and I will do whatever it takes to make her happy."
Mr. Krishnan's eyes softened slightly, but he remained guarded. "Yoongi, it's not that I doubt your feelings. It's just... our traditions are a significant part of who we are. It's difficult for me to reconcile this with my beliefs."
Yoongi nodded. "I understand that, sir. And I want to assure you that I am not here to take Maya away from her roots. I want to be a part of your family and respect your traditions. I want to learn and understand more about your culture. My only wish is for Maya to be happy and for us to have your blessing."
Mr. Krishnan looked thoughtful, his defenses slowly crumbling. "You speak with sincerity, Yoongi. But actions speak louder than words. How can I be sure that you'll honor this commitment?"
Yoongi leaned forward, his eyes earnest. "I promise you, sir, I will honor it. To prove my sincerity, I have brought someone who means a lot to me-my father. He wanted to come and meet you as well."
At that moment, Yoongi's father entered the room, having waited outside as per Yoongi's request. He bowed respectfully to Mr. Krishnan and Mrs. Janani, who had joined them by now.
"Mr. Krishnan, Mrs. Janani, I am Min Jihoon, Yoongi's father. I wanted to meet you to express my support for our children. I understand the importance of family and traditions, and I want to assure you that we will respect and honor your values."
Mr. Krishnan seemed taken aback by this gesture. He looked at Yoongi's father, then back at Yoongi. "You've come all this way to speak to us. That shows a lot of respect and commitment."
