The weekend had finally arrived, and with it, the long-anticipated meeting between Maya and Yoongi's parents. Yoongi could sense Maya's nervousness as they got ready, her hands trembling slightly as she adjusted her traditional Indian kurta.
"Hey," Yoongi said softly, taking her hands in his. "You look beautiful. They'll love you, I promise."
Maya gave him a small smile, but her eyes betrayed her anxiety. "I hope so," she whispered, taking a deep breath.
As they drove to his parents' house, Maya couldn't help but bombard Yoongi with questions. "What do they like? How should I behave? What if they don't like me? Oh no, I can't imagine a life without you," she said, her words spilling out in a rush.
Yoongi chuckled softly, reaching over to squeeze her hand. "Maya, breathe. It'll be fine. Just be yourself. They’ll see why I love you so much."
But Maya continued to fret, her mind racing with all the possible ways the meeting could go wrong. Seeing her distress, Yoongi pulled the car over to the side of the road and turned to face her.
"Look at me," he said gently, cupping her face in his hands. "No matter what happens, you'll always be my partner. I love you, Maya. We’ll get through this together."
Before she could respond, he leaned in and kissed her softly, pouring all his reassurance and love into that one moment. When they pulled away, Maya felt a little calmer, her heart warmed by Yoongi's unwavering support.
As they arrived at his parents' house, Maya found herself hiding slightly behind Yoongi, her nerves getting the best of her. Yoongi gave her hand a reassuring squeeze before they walked up to the door.
Yoongi’s parents greeted them at the door, his mother smiling warmly while his father maintained a more reserved demeanor. "Hello, Mom, Dad," Yoongi began, "this is Maya, my girlfriend."
The room fell silent as his parents exchanged glances. Maya felt her heart pounding in her chest, but she mustered a polite smile.
"Welcome, Maya," his mother finally said, her tone cordial but not overly warm. "Please, come in."
They stepped inside, the atmosphere thick with unspoken questions and apprehensions. Yoongi’s father led them to the dining room, where the table was already set for dinner.
While his mother was busy setting the last dishes on the table, Maya extended a hand to help. "Can I assist you with anything, Mrs. Min?" she offered politely.
His mother shook her head, a polite but firm smile on her lips. "No, thank you, dear. I can handle it."
Maya exchanged a worried glance with Yoongi, who discreetly signaled for her to calm down. She took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves as they sat down for dinner.
The meal began in near silence, the only sounds being the clinking of cutlery and the occasional murmur. It wasn’t long before Yoongi’s father broke the silence, his gaze settling on Maya.
"So, Maya," he began, his voice steady and serious, "tell us about yourself."
Maya felt all eyes on her as she swallowed nervously. "Well, I’m a classical dancer," she started, her voice a little shaky. "I moved to Seoul to pursue my dream, and that's where I met Yoongi during an audition with Hobi."
Yoongi’s mother nodded, her expression thoughtful. "A classical dancer, that’s wonderful. How long have you been dancing?"
"Since I was five," Maya replied, smiling softly at the memory. "It's a huge part of my life and my culture."
Yoongi’s mother nodded, her expression thoughtful. "And how long have you two been dating?" she asked, her tone neutral.
Maya glanced at Yoongi, who gave her an encouraging nod. "We've been together for four years," she replied, smiling softly at the memory of their time together.
