Chapter 002: The Funeral

"Faithful God, Lord of all Creation, you desire that nothing redeemed by your son will ever lost as we return the ashes of our sister to the Earth, to live with you and all your children. Forever and Ever. Amen." The priest read.

A few tears were running down my face, but not as many as before. Jordy and Jon both held my hand as the Priest finished the closing prayer. Grandma was really gone. Dad slowly walked forward and threw a single white rose onto the casket, and I felt more tears flow down my face. Everyone slowly walked by and paid their respects to the casket.

That's when I noticed him. A boy, probably around Jon and Jordy's age, with blonde hair and brown eyes. He looked as sad as me. I smiled at him as he walked by, and he returned it.

"What was that?" Jon asked as he nudged me.

"What do you mean?"

"Who was that?"

"I dunno." I said and Jon raised his eyebrows. I rolled me eyes and kicked him in the shin. Jordy snickered as I smiled proudly.

"I don't see why we're having an after party. We just went to a funeral." I muttered to Jordy as I ate a piece of pie. Not that I didn't mind the food, I just wasn't really happy about the situation. Jon walked over and sat down on top of the table, and handed Jordy a plate of pie.

"What's that?" Jordy asked as he poked the soggy pie.

"It's one o'clock, don't you need to take your pills or something?" Jon asked in the most considerate voice he could.
