Chapter 029: Too Close
"So we're supposed to just ignore the whole Cushing family?" Jon exclaimed. On top of learning everything about the Inverse World, we also had issues here. That issue being the Cushing family.
"Dad, you do realize we go to school with Sarah, right?" I said, and Dad let out a Dad sigh.
"I know. But Lana isn't ready for Sarah to know the truth about our family, so-"
"Can't that at least be up to Sarah!?" Jordy exclaimed.
"Yeah, I think she's seriously overreacting." Jon agreed. I stayed quiet.
"Guys, Lana now has to lie everyday to protect our secret. Is it really that wrong that she doesn't want Sarah to have to do the same thing?" Dad said.
"Well, that's not fair! Joe knows our secret, and we're allowed to talk to him!" Jon exclaimed.
"That's different, he's okay with knowing our secret." I said, and both boys rolled their eyes.
"Do you think she'll ever change her mind?" Jordy asked.
"I don't know, but for right now we just need to respect her wishes and keep our distance." Dad said, and all three of us let out sighs.
"But on the bright side, I planned a full day of chores so we can spend some time together!"
"What?" "How is that the bright side?" "Yeah, thanks."
"Oh come one, I used to love helping my Dad around the farm." We all stared at him in disappointment.
"Come on, meet me in the barn in 10 minutes." I sighed. This was going to be a long day.

"Well your brother must be pretty upset." Dad said as Jon worked with the tractor and he held it up. I sat on a bale of hay, watching. Chores weren't really my thing.
