Chapter 011: Help
Sneezing was a mistake. And so was coughing. Whenever I sneezed, ice came out of my mouth, and when I coughed a throbbing pain came through my head. When I sneezed, we were at dinner, and Mom and Jon freaked out. So did I. Dad had sped away earlier, with no excuse, even though we all knew what it was. Then I sneezed again, and more ice came out.
"Katie, honey, just take a seat-"
"Achoo!" More ice.
And at the perfect moment, Dad walked in the door with Jordy, who looked like he'd been the hell and back. Mom gasped and immediately began to inspect his face. Dad turned to look at me, and the ice in the room.
"Freeze breath? Already?"
"I guess." I muttered as Dad took a seat next to me and wrapped an arm around me. Mom sat Jordy down next to me, and handed him a bag of frozen peas while Jordy and Dad explained what happened. Short version, Tag Harris jumped Jordy with his new super speed, beat him up, and when Dad arrived he sped away, and not even Dad could keep up.
"He got you pretty good, kid." Mom muttered
"It's alright." Jordy muttered as Mom rubbed his face.
"I thought you had like, super durability, or whatever." Jon asked Jordy.
"I don't know what I have. I tried to fight back, but he was stronger and faster. My head is pounding." Jordy said as he held his head.
"So is mine, it's whenever I cough." I muttered as I put my head on the table.
"Your abilities are evolving, you can heal faster, but you can still get hurt. And your, Katie, are obviously coming in very fast. Faster than mine, or Jordan's." Dad said as I nodded.
"What did Tag want, anyways?" Jon asked Jordy.
"Answers. He wanted to know how he got powers, that's why he's at the DOD. He thinks I did this to him." Jordy replied.
