Welcome to the archive: Today we take the plunge into the world of MGE, a world I believe has a lot of crossover potential and I've brought Subject Delta into it. This is somewhat inspired by Still a Man by coco the dodo and I say somewhat because the idea of Delta being in MGE has been in the back of my head for a while but having read the story dodo so far it pushed me to write this.

Subject Delta lumbered across the dry dunes, the heavy winds pelting his suit with grains of sand. He wasn't sure where he was going or how he ended up here but he found himself not caring about either. Delta had completed his goal, he'd saved his daughter, Eleanor, and the Little Sisters that were left in Rapture. Delta knew Eleanor would take care of the girls and he would've been proud to see it.

But Delta knew he would only hold Eleanor back. Delta was aware that if Eleanor were to absorb his essence he would become a chain tethering her to Rapture. Delta wanted Eleanor to leave Rapture behind and go forward without the chains of Rapture holding her potential down. Delta would have been that chain and he wouldn't allow it.

Subject Delta died looking down into the ocean; allowing his daughter to fly free even if Delta would never see what she would become.

Delta hadn't expected to wake up again. He hadn't expected to find himself in a vast expanse of sand. Was this hell? The word had flashed into his mind with the context behind it. Was this what awaited him in the afterlife? The thoughts jumped around his mind until they inevitably faded as Delta continued forward as the winds only grew heavier.

Eventually Delta came across a structure half buried in a dune, he walked toward it and entered. The building was dark but that suited Delta, he was simply waiting for the storm to clear. Delta moved deeper into the building and stopped near a wall, kneeling down so he could sit and leaned against the wall.

Delta wasn't sure how long the storm would last so he would sleep through it. He trusted sleep, he was aware that it was a vulnerable position to be in but he knew no dreams would come to him. They never did before and a splicer had once tried their luck when Eleanor was still his assigned Little Sister; they hadn't survived that test of luck.

Delta closed his eyes and made himself breathe to a rhythm. It didn't take long for the Alpha Series Big Daddy to fall asleep, his visor glowing green as he slipped into a state of unconsciousness.

Delta was pulled awake by the sudden sensation of touch. Something was touching him, or more accurately rubbing against him. He opened his eyes to see the face of a woman with purple eyes, inky black hair, and worn wrappings around her neck. The woman was rubbing her face against the visor and making a strange sound.

Delta didn't recognize what the sound was, it resembled a groan of pain. Similar to those he'd heard countless times from Splicers but the woman seemed to be smiling as if enjoying the feeling. The woman didn't seem to be harming him but he still shoved her off him just as his visor turned yellow.

The woman fell to the stone floor with a loud gasp and Delta stood up, looking down at the woman. The wrappings he'd noted before covered nearly her entire body besides stomach and lower back; currently the woman was making a slightly more shrill sound while convulsing on the ground. Delta paid it no mind and lumbered away; leaving the strange woman to her convulsions.

Delta pushed through the sand that covered the entrance and could finally see three feet in front him. He lumbered forward again, his destination not known to him as he had nowhere to go anyway. Though as he walked he could feel something watching him, a feeling he'd always trusted in Rapture and one he listened to.

Delta stopped walking but instead of turning he used the Plasmid: Scout. Delta walked from his body and turned around looking for whatever was watching him, eventually he found it. Another strange woman, though this one was different with yellow furry legs and feline feet with a yellow tail and pawed hands, even a pair of ears sitting on her head. The woman wasn't wearing much either.

Delta's ghost projection got closer to the woman who was still staring at his physical body. Delta looked at the woman and could see something was off, besides the physical appearance anyway, she seemed to be very red in the face with her eyes locked onto his physical body. Delta wasn't sure what that look meant but before he could make a decision the woman moved.

Delta quickly cut the projection and now in his physical body turned and revved his drill. The drill roared as Delta plunged it forward, the woman impaled herself on the spinning drill and soon enough she was yelling out in pain as her insides were torn apart and spun. Delta tore the drill from the woman who fell to the now bloodied sand.

Delta stared down at the odd looking woman. Why was she hostile? The other woman hadn't been, or had she been? Delta didn't know but it didn't matter. This woman was dead and that was it. Delta flicked his arm, the blood on the drill falling to the sand. Delta turned from the corpse and moved off not noticing the purple mist flowing behind him, or how it slowly turned red and entered his back.

My mindset when it comes to Subject Delta is that his mind is still fractured from the programming of the Big Daddy. He has no idea what his name was or what his life was like before he just has these concepts that he knew of swimming around and they come to the forefront of his mind in certain places. If Subject Delta were to wake up after his death in Bioshock 2's good ending I feel that he would simply wander, until he found something worth stopping for. What that would be is for me to figure out if I ever do a full story on this concept.
