Atlanta, GA
Toriana's POV
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
I hummed along to the soft music coming from my speaker as I looked over my outfit for the final time in my mirror. I looked good, I smelt good, and I felt good. Yesterday was my 21st birthday so tonight Amber and I were going out. I'd invited Dani too, but she was booked with late night squeeze ins. In the two years we'd been living in Atlanta, everybody was doing pretty well for themselves. My savings were stacked as I was living bill free, only having expenses related to self-care, my car, and health.
My phone vibrated, signaling a text from Amber letting me know she was outside in the Uber we'd be taking. I made sure I had all my necessities before locking up the house and heading out. The uber ride was smooth and soon we arrived at the mansion where the party was. There were cars and people everywhere, so I knew a good time was waiting on us.
"Wait, here." Amber spoke digging a pill bottle out of her purse. She poured two of the Oxy's out, handing me one.
About 6 months ago, she and I had gotten into an accident where I suffered from a broken collarbone, and she suffered from a fractured arm. We'd been given pills to help manage the pain and Amber discovered their recreational side effects before me and it'd become somewhat of a bad habit of ours. I liked calling it a habit versus an addiction because I was always careful when taking them and I tried to only take them on special occasions, like tonight, but it didn't always work out that way.
"It's not a party if you're sober." Amber said making me shoot her a look as I accepted the pill. We took them at the same time before heading inside. It wasn't long before the euphoric effects of the pill seemed to hit both Amber and I.
"Wait, this my shit!" Amber yelled over the music as Bandz A Make Her Dance began blaring from the speakers. She quickly bent down to the ground and began twerking on me.
"Ayee." I yelled as I hyped her up and gave encouraging smacks on her butt. She laughed as she quickly stood up.
"How you 21 and aint took no shot yet?" She questioned with a frown, "Nah you know I don't drink with them pills." I spoke, getting to the point to where I was ready to sit down.
"Just 1 won't hurt, come on." She said grabbing my wrist and pulling me through the crowd, towards the bar.
"Amber, wait-" I began to speak, gasping as I heard a snap and my weight unevenly shifted to my left side. Amber turned around at the sound seeing me now removing my broken heel with a frown on my face.
"What the fuck bro I just got these." I groaned as I removed the other shoe so I could be flat on my feet.
"I bet you want the shot now." Amber spoke making me shoot her a look, "Whatever, just 1 though. I'll be over here sitting down." I said referring to an empty seat in what I think was the living room area.
As soon as I sat down an intense feeling of relaxation ran over me. I let out a breath, hearing my heartbeat in my head, as I became hyper fixated on the LED lights on the walls.
"Ion think she heard you bro, ask again." I heard a voice echo before someone touched my shoulder making me jump. My eyes locked onto the boy standing in the front of who I assumed to be his friend group.
"My bad ma, I aint mean to scare you. Is somebody sitting here?" The boy asked me referencing the empty space next to me.
It wasn't the brightest in here but something about him seemed so familiar. I stared for a while taking in the parts of his appearance I could see, causing the group of boys behind him to whisper and look at me like I was crazy.
