Atlanta, GA
Tori's POV
The day had finally arrived. My birthday. When I woke up this morning, I felt the warmth of the sunlight pouring through the window, but it wasn't the usual calm I felt on a typical morning. There was something different about today-a sense of anticipation because I had no idea what Kai had planned.
It didn't take long for him to notice I was awake. "Happy birthday, beautiful," he said softly, a smile spreading across his face as he leaned down to kiss my forehead.
"Thank you," I replied, still half-wrapped in the covers. "I don't even know what to expect today. What do you have planned?"
Kai just grinned, but he was careful not to say too much. "Patience, baby. You'll see soon enough. Just trust me, it's gonna be a day you'll never forget."
I raised an eyebrow, feeling the excitement bubble up inside of me, but I couldn't help but wonder what he had up his sleeve. Kai was always good at surprises, but he had been especially tight-lipped this time.
We had a fun day of going to all my favorite places, and I didn't think he could top it. Later in the evening, we arrived at the mansion-this gorgeous, private space tucked away in the outskirts of Atlanta. I was completely caught off guard. I had no idea what was happening, but when I stepped out of the car, I felt like I had just walked into a dream.
The place was immaculate. As I entered, the lights were dimmed to perfection, candles flickered everywhere, and the entire ambiance screamed luxury and intimacy. The table was set with a private chef ready to serve an exquisite meal, and there were flowers-every kind of flower I loved-arranged beautifully throughout the room. My favorite color, a soft lavender, dominated the space, paired with balloons and elegant decor that made me feel like I had just stepped into my own little fairy tale.
And then, I saw the room off to the side. The door was slightly open, as we stepped inside, my heart skipped a beat. The entire room was filled with photos of us, a visual timeline of our journey together. It was like walking into our own story-moments frozen in time, memories hanging from the walls like pieces of our love. The entire space had been designed for me, with everything I adored: flowers, color, and love, all around me. There were gifts neatly arranged on the table, waiting for me to open them.
"You can open your gifts and then we can eat." Kai instructed. It was obvious he was proud to have put all of this together.
"That's backwards." I spoke with a chuckle, but didn't argue as I moved to open what he'd got me.
I fell more and more in love as I unpackaged the gifts. They were more thoughtful than expensive and that meant the world to me. I could truly tell how much effort he put into making tonight perfect for me.
My jaw dropped as I opened a velvet box seeing the keys to a Lamborghini sitting inside.
"You didn't," I whispered.
Kai smiled, the expression on his face almost shy. "I did. I wanted you to match my fly."
I squealed and basically jumped into his arms. "Thank you. This is too much, Kai..."
"You deserve it, baby." His voice was low and soft, filled with sincerity. "You've been through so much, and I want to give you the world."
I pulled away from him, wiping away a tear that had escaped. "I love you so much."
"I love you more." He kissed me, and for a moment, the world felt still. It was just us in that moment, no worries, no distractions.
After going to look at my new white Lamborghini urus, we headed to the dining room where the chef was waiting. He prepared a three-course meal of my favorites, there were even cute little custom menus that said what we were having.
We laughed, we ate delicious food, and we enjoyed each other's company without a care in the world. That night, I made sure to show Kai just how thankful I was.
When I woke up the next morning, my body was tired in the best way possible. My birthday had been everything I could've dreamed of, and more. I stretched in bed, feeling the weight of last night's events still lingering in my limbs. But even though I wanted to stay curled up in the warmth of Kai's arms, I knew he had to work. I wasn't upset because he'd given me more than enough, plus I had plans of my own with Xoie.
"I'll see you later, baby," I said, toying with one of his dreads as he adjusted his clothes. "And don't forget I'm going out with Xoie later."
He nodded, "Alright. I'm sending my bodyguard with y'all, just... don't get too lit without me."
I smiled and nodded. I was glad to know he trusted me completely. I would still be sober granted I had been since losing Amber, and I had no intentions of changing that.
After giving me a kiss goodbye, Kai was out the door. I spent the day preparing, and come night Xoie and I were at the club for part two of my celebration. Xoie and I danced, laughed, and just let loose. Neither of us needed to drink to have a good time.
When we finally got back home, I was ready for some comfort food. I immediately had Kai order Waffle House for us, because nothing hit quite like that after a long night. As I dug into my waffles, Kai teased me.
"I kept seeing videos of you and Xoie on social media," he said with a grin. "Look like I should've sent two bodyguards."
"Shut up." I said playfully, chuckling as I ate my waffle.
It didn't take long for the fatigue to catch up with me. On top of being full and in Kai's arms, I fell asleep almost immediately. We had a lifetime of birthdays ahead of us, and I hoped they would always be as perfect as this one had been.
