Miami, FL

Tori's POV

*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*

Life had felt like a movie for the past few weeks. Since there was no longer a point in trying to stay lowkey with Kai, we had filmed our first video together. It was a simple challenge of him attempting to do my natural hair. Things didn't turn out so good, but it didn't matter because I had already booked a hair appointment for damage control. Aside from that, we'd gone shopping and were currently on our first (group) trip to Miami.

Since Dani was booked and busy, I opted to bring Xoie along since our friendship had been growing in a positive direction since I'd met her. With it being the first night in Miami, we had just gotten back to the Air BnB from going to the club and were now playing truth, dare, or drink.

"Alright Kai, what you picking?" Chris asked Kai, who was leaning on my shoulder.

"I aint no bitch, give me a dare." Kai replied confidently, earning scattered laughs from around the room.

"I dare you to get Tori name tatted." Xoie suggested, earning 'oous' and high fives from everybody for her quick thinking.

"He not gone do it." I said with a chuckle, making him smack his lips.

"Why I won't? Who got a tat man down here? Call them and tell them to pull up right now." Kai stated, obviously feeling the effects of our trip to the club.

"I'll call mine." Duke said, pulling out his phone.

"I don't want you to do it just because of a dare." I told Kai lowly.

"On God I was planning on getting it anyway, this just making me go ahead and check it off the list." Kai responded with a slight shrug.

I had half expected him to back out at the last minute, but much to my surprise shortly after the tattoo artist arrived my name was added onto his collection of tattoos. And of course I felt special, who wouldn't?

It was a great start to the trip, and I was sure things would only continue to get better. The next day was a day full of exploration and fun, and by night things were starting to get livelier. Duke wanted to film something for his personal channel, so there were plenty of girls filtering through the house along with some other content creators who wanted to collab with AMP. I was seated peacefully in between Xoie & Kai, just enjoying the good vibes.

"Hell nah. Fuck is you doing here?" I heard Duke exclaim, drawing everyone's attention.

There stood Nova alongside a girl I could only assume was her friend. I immediately rolled my eyes at the sight and could feel Kai tense up next to me.

"Bitch you told me it wasn't no beef." Her friend exclaimed, obviously uncomfortable to be in the situation.

"I promise I'm not on nothing weird. My friend want to network and I'm just here to support." Nova defended.

Duke looked over to Kai, who looked at me, and I simply shrugged. I wasn't going to let Nova's presence ruin the vibes or undo all my self-growth.

"You can stay long as you aint no weird shit. And don't let me find out you stalking them or nothing either." Duke said pointedly, making Nova roll her eyes as she walked away with her friend.

She kept her distance, and everything seemed to be going well. I had almost forgotten she was even there until some of the girls Duke was filming with moved closer to the living room, suggesting we all play a game of 'Never Have I Ever'. By then, Nova seemed to have had her fair share of drinks as she now had the courage to actually look Kai & I's way.

I continued to ignore her, allowing my attention to remain on the goofy dread head seated next to me since Xoie had fallen asleep.

"I got one." Nova's obnoxious voice rang through my ears, making everyone look up. "Never have I ever bagged a bad bitch, led her on for months with nothing but lies and bullshit. Only to start cheating on her with my drug addicted best friend, even after she basically caused her cousin to OD." Nova finished with a smile as she looked around the now stunned room.

"You wilding. It's time for you to go." Fanum said, signaling for security.

Nova's friend didn't argue, looking more upset than anything as she stood up and headed for the door.

"Oh were y'all not playing?" Nova asked with fake innocence. "Whatever. I don't see why I have to leave, it's not like she gone do shit." She continued, getting to her feet casually.

I really wasn't sure what came over me, but the next thing I know I had walked up and punched her directly in the face. I didn't stop swinging, letting my pent-up aggression and rage flow through every punch. The room erupted in chaos as Kai and the others jumped in to pull me away from a screaming Nova, security escorting her out after the fact.

Without another word, I broke away from Kai's grasp and saw myself to the room that we were staying in. My main focus was controlling my breathing in an effort to calm down. It didn't take long for Kai to enter the room behind me.

"You good?" He asked, inspecting my face to make sure it was unscathed.

"Perfectly fine...I broke a nail though." I replied, frowning at one of my fingers.

"I'll pay to get it fixed. Unless you planned on breaking some more then we might should just wait until we get back to Atlanta." He joked slightly, making a smile tug at the corner of my lips.

"Shut up." I said playfully, pushing him gently. "Let's go to bed." I requested, making him nod as we started to get ready.

I struggled enough on my own with the haunting memories and mistakes of my past. I was reminded every day by the simple fact that I couldn't pick up the phone and call Amber anymore. The last thing I needed was somebody like Nova attempting to weaponize it against me. Most of her boldness likely came from the fact that up until now, she had gone untouched. While it was true that I was working on being a better version of myself, there would be no more letting her or anybody else slide. Otherwise, I wouldn't feel like I'm truly able to move forward.
