Dani's POV
*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*
I was sitting in my nail shop, waiting on my client and texting Tori about what we were wearing to the AMP Halloween party tomorrow. Pretty soon I heard the door open, and I looked up immediately scoffing at who I saw.
"Hell nah. You need to go." I said to Nova, starting to shoo her away.
"What? Why?!" She asked with genuine confusion on her face.
"Don't play stupid. After all the hell you put my friend through, you're crazier than I thought if you thought I was finna do your nails."
Nova frowned, "That's old news. Besides, you and I never had problems. I only seen you like twice."
"Was that supposed to help your case? Goodbye." I replied, folding my arms and mugging her.
"Please. I got an event soon and I can't find nobody else in such a short time. I'll pay extra and I won't talk the entire time, I promise." Nova bargained.
"$150 extra." I threw out the first number that came to mind. I figured on top of the $90 that I charged, there was no way she'd agree. Especially since she'd booked a simpler set.
"Done." She agreed, instantly proving me wrong.
I squinted at her before sighing, "Fine, whatever. Sit down." I caved as she tried to hide her smile as she sat.
She was true to her word and was quiet for almost the entire appointment, only breaking her silence while we were waiting on her nails to dry.
"It's nice how you look out for Tori. Keep doing that, she'll probably need it."
"It's not too late for me to fuck your nails up, you know." I spoke in a warning tone.
"I'm just saying. Nobody seems to realize that I really loved Kai, even if I had a crazy way of showing it. And at one point I'm pretty sure he cared about me more than he let on. The point is he broke my heart after all our time together and everything I did for him. So, just don't be surprised if he does it to Tori too." Nova spoke in a serious tone.
"Alright, they should be dry. Payment please." I changed the subject.
She shrugged her shoulders and dug in her purse, pulling out the cash and handed it to me. "Don't say I didn't try to warn you." She concluded before exiting my shop.
I was trying not to let her words get to me, but something about them left a lingering effect on my mind. I would just shrug it off and consider the run-in to be mild reparations considering I'd just horribly overcharged her.
HALLOWEEN quickly rolled around, and I had all intentions on having a good time. I wanted to tell Tori about what had happened with Nova, but I was going to wait until after the party to not put a damper on things.
Everyone was in costume and at the AMP mansion having a great time. Xoie, Tori, Kaiya, and I were all sitting off to the side enjoying one another's company. Our conversation was interrupted when Tylil walked over to us.
"What's going on ladies? How y'all doing tonight?" He asked with a smile, making everybody glance over at him.
"We okay. Shouldn't you be with the boys." Kaiya questioned.
"I'm playing host and making sure everybody straight because they not gone do it." He replied
"How considerate of you." Tori said in a playful tone.
We all engaged in mild conversation for a while, but before I knew it Kai came storming over. The scent of alcohol hitting my nose was enough to let me know he'd probably had a few too many drinks for the night.
"Bro you must think I'm fucking dumb. Fuck is you doing over here by my girl for." Kai asked Tylil angrily.
"Kai, relax—" Tori started to try to defuse the situation, but Kai only snatched away from her.
"Nah because this nigga think he slick. He been plotting on you, and I'm tired of the disrespect." He continued to raise his voice, drawing unwanted attention towards our group.
"Kai, baby, I don't really know what you two got going on, but now's not the time to address it." Tori once again tried to reason with him.
"Fuck is you defending this nigga for?! Know what, fuck you and him! Sticking up for this nigga who aint did shit for you might I add, versus me—the nigga who's given you everything! Thought you would've learned your lesson by now of surrounding yourself with people who don't give a fuck about you." Kai snapped, pointing his finger in her face.
Toriana stood with a stunned expression on her face as she watched him storm off. We were all shocked, not having expected things to escalate so quickly.
We watched as Kai walked back towards the boys who couldn't help but have seen the situation unfold. It didn't make it any better that they were surrounded by hoes, who probably figured they had a chance after that scenario. While Kai wasn't letting anyone touch him, he clearly had no problem engaging in conversation.
"My fault T, I aint mean to cause no problems." Tylil apologized, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly.
"It's alright. Dani and I just gone go." Toriana replied sadly. I didn't ask any questions, simply following her out the door.
"You okay?" I asked her once we were inside of my car.
"Yea. He just drunk, and I can't deal with that right now." She answered.
Even though she tried to hide it, I could see her sneaking to wipe a few stray tears that escaped her eyes.
"It's gone be okay T. You know I got you."
She didn't respond as I pulled off, starting in the direction of my place. After what I had seen tonight, I was starting to feel like maybe I needed to heed Dani's warning a little more.
