The Bronx, NY
Kai's POV
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
When we had first booked the flights to come to New York, it was just supposed to be a short trip. It was never supposed to turn into us attending two funerals within a week. I stood next to Kaiya and Dani as we watched the white casket began to be lowered into the ground.
This only prompted guests in attendance to start crying harder than they already were, and I just couldn't take it anymore.
"I'm out..." I mumbled to Dani & Kaiya before walking off to head towards my car.
I felt bad because I felt obligated to stay, but I just couldn't. I had been stressed 24/7, which was effecting how much I slept, how much I ate, etc. I just couldn't function, let alone make it through such a painful memorial from beginning to end. I was honestly ready to get out of New York, but I couldn't do that either. Not without her.
I started my car before beginning my drive, eventually arriving at the hospital. I navigated the halls I had become so familiar with before eventually arriving at Tori's room. She was picking at the hospital food that sat in front of her, looking up at me at the sound of the door opening.
"Hey..." She spoke lowly watching me as I moved to sit in my usual chair next to her bed.
"Hey." I replied as I looked up at her. It had only been a couple of days since she woke up, but doctors were still monitoring to make sure the effects from the overdose had stabilized.
"How was it?" She asked while going back to picking at her food.
"Sad. You should eat." I encouraged.
"I don't have an appetite and if I did, I wouldn't want this." She said with a sigh.
"Your doctor stopped by?" I questioned.
"Yea, he said if my test results keep coming back normal these next couple days he'll discharge me." She explained making me nod.
"Good, we almost out of here. I'll make sure you say bye to Amber before we fly home." I said making her give me a small smile, "Thanks Kai." She spoke before taking a breath.
"I just wanted to apologize again Kai-" She started making me interrupt her, "I already told you stop Toriana. You woke up so I forgive you."
"But I'm disappointed in myself so I know you are."
"Toriana. You been through more than most people our age have. After everything with your moms and your auntie and now Amber, you allowed to make a few mistakes. You just got to learn from them, so they never happen again, and that's why I'm here. From here on out, we go through and work through shit together. You far from alone T, and long as I'm around you never will be." I expressed honestly.
"Well first things first, can we work through getting me some real food?" She half-joked pushing the tray away.
"I'll see what I can do." I replied with a chuckle before picking up my phone to text a few people.
After everything that happened, my emotional connection to Tori was on a whole new level. She could ask me for the moon right now and I'd figure out how to give it to her. If she was happy that meant she was healthy, and that was all that mattered.
