Kai's POV

Tori and I had spent the last few weeks in a good place, and I was determined to make this holiday feel special. We decided to do something a little different this year—Friendsgiving. I rented out a private space and hired a chef to handle the cooking. When we arrived at the location, the space was set up perfectly. The chef I had hired was a small business owner, and as a result, she had to bring her twins, a girl and a boy, along. I didn't mind though, nobody did. The more the merrier, plus they were big fans of AMP, so it was nice to be able to give them this experience.

I was sitting in the living room, enjoying the liveliness of the household as everyone went around mingling.

"Hi Kai!" I heard a small voice, looking up to see the twins standing in front of me with wide smiles on their faces.

"Wassup y'all. Y'all having fun?" I asked.

"Yea!" They answered in unison, nodding their heads excitedly. "We talked to your girlfriend; she said you're a twin too." The boy continued.

"I am, my sister should be here soon." I told them.

"That's cool!" The girl replied. "Your girlfriend's really pretty by the way."

I chuckled at her forwardness. "I agree."

We kept talking for a while before Tori eventually walked over to join us. The kids had asked to see some of the stuff she knitted, so she was showing them what she was working on and even letting them try it out themselves. It was really cute to see, and it almost felt like a glimpse into the future.

Feeling eyes on me, I looked up to see Dani watching us. Upon making eye contact, she waved me over.

"I'll be right back, Toriana," I announced, and she simply nodded as I walked over towards Dani.

She pulled me into a hallway, away from lingering gazes or prying ears. "What's good D? You good?"

"I keep thinking about Halloween." She expressed.

"Okay... what about it?" I asked with a confused look on my face.

"They say drunk minds speak sober thoughts, and if you feel that way about Tori, you need to let her go. She's been through too much, and she loves you a lot, Kai. I don't think she could handle a heartbreak."

I couldn't help but laugh, before realizing she was serious. "You need to let that go, Dani. I get that you're her friend, and I respect that, but don't question me on how I treat her. I've got her, and we're good."

"And I'm just supposed to take your word for it?"

"What else you gone do? You don't got good enough reason to tell her to leave me, and even if she did, why would she listen to you? You don't got no solid relationship under your belt. And in case you forgot, I was there before you, and if you ask me, I done helped her and got her straight more than you ever have." I snapped a little. There was a tense silence between us, and for a moment, it felt like the room had gotten a little colder.

"Now if you'll excuse me, I got a Thanksgiving to get back to." I hoped I hadn't said too much, but I wasn't about to let her press me like that.

Tori was grown, and didn't need her friends fighting her battles for her. I didn't know if Tori had said something, but I thought it was weird for Dani to be butting in though. I didn't even remember her having that much input when things were actually shaky with everything with Nova.

As I rejoined the group, the time had come to eat. Before digging in, we were all going around and expressing what we were thankful for. Soon, it was my turn, so I stood up and cleared my throat. The room quieted down, all eyes on me.

"I'm thankful for a lot of things," I started, looking around at everyone. "I'm thankful for everybody in this room, and our family members who helped shape us to get here. Thankful for the people who keep me grounded. For the people who helped to make all this possible. For the supporters and the haters. But most importantly, I'm thankful to have somebody special to share it all with. Toriana, you mean the absolute world to me. I'm thankful for all our big and little moments, they really make life worth it. You give me something to look forward to every day."

Everybody "aww'd" as I concluded and retook my seat.

Tori's eyes softened as she looked at me. I knew she appreciated me being open with everyone, and I hoped that would give Dani some sort of peace of mind. Tori leaned in and gave me a kiss on the cheek. "That was sweet," she whispered.

"Lightweight, baby." I spoke playfully, making her chuckle.

We proceeded to eat the delicious food prepared for us and enjoy one another's company and the good vibes. As the day dwindled to an end, I was content with how everything had come together.

I was happy, Tori was happy, my people were taken care of. In my eyes, that meant everything was perfect, and that nothing else mattered.
