Tori's POV

The flight home was the hardest part. While we'd achieved our goal, I wasn't ready to leave. I had let go of everything for a few days, surrounded only by Kai and the warmth of the Seychelles. No distractions, no expectations, just us. It felt like a dream I didn't want to wake up from. It had been everything I needed-peaceful, healing, intimate. I think we found each other again, maybe even better than before. I had moments where I just caught myself smiling because I was so in love with this man.

Coming back to reality wasn't easy, though. The minute we landed in Atlanta, Kai immediately dove back into his work with AMP. I knew they'd been working on some big things while we were away, so now it was like he didn't even have time to breathe. On top of that, I knew he was sneakily planning something for my birthday even though I'd told him not to worry about it.

Since he was busy, I had decided to go and catch up with Xoie for brunch. I had never expected our bond to grow as much on that first day we met, but I was grateful to have her in my corner.

"So," Xoie started, stirring her coffee as we sat down. "How was the trip with Kai?"

I smiled at the memory. "It was perfect. Literally everything I needed. It's like... I felt like myself again, you know?"

She raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "And him? How's he feeling?"

I paused, taking a deep breath. "He's all in, Xoie. I feel it. It's like everything clicked for us. We're in a good place."

"That's good T. I'm really happy for you." She spoke genuinely, making me smile in return.

From her body language as she ate her food, I could tell something was on her mind. "What's up?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

Xoie hesitated for a second before continuing. "It's Dani. I don't want you to think I'm being fake or anything, because what she did was really fucked up. I just think since you're in this healing phase, maybe y'all should sit down and talk-for closure. I mean she was like a sister to you, so it's a big loss."

I felt the stirrings of frustration in my chest. She had crossed so many lines, hurt me in ways that felt unforgivable.

"I don't know if I can do that, Xoie," I said quietly.

"I get it, Tori," Xoie cut in, her voice soft. "But sometimes closure isn't about forgiveness. It's about making peace with what happened. You don't have to like her, you don't have to be friends. But if you're going to move on, it might help to let go of that weight."

"I'll think about it." I replied and she nodded.

The rest of our meal was good vibes, but her suggestion lingered in the back of my mind. As soon as I got home, I decided to bring it up with Kai.

"Hey baby." I greeted as I walked in his room, immediately gaining his attention.

"Wassup ma. How was brunch?"

"Good...I wanted to ask you something though." I responded as I sat next to him on his bed.

He nodded and put his phone down, giving me his undivided attention.

"Xoie thinks I should have a sit-down with Dani. Not to make up or anything, but for closure. She thinks it'll help me move on."

"Hell nah." He said almost immediately, his whole demeanor changing.

"Relax, I'm just thinking about it. I don't want to carry all that anger around, but I don't know if I could release it another way."

He sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. "I don't like it T. But... if you think it'll help you, I support whatever decision you make."

"Thank you." I said giving him a soft smile as I leaned over on his shoulder.

He nodded and grabbed my hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. We truly were in a good space, one we had worked so hard to get to and I wasn't letting anybody get in the way of that.
