Josie picked at her nail beds as the clocked ticked past 8, Lizzie still not in their room. A faint knock turns her attention to the door, "Lizzie, where ha-" Josie stopped mid-sentence, not expecting the person knocking on her door. "Hey," Hope smiled meekly, looking adorable in her blazer. Wait, did she just call Hope adorable? Josie brushed the thought aside, she and Hope were not friends, "Dad's office is on the other side of the building,"

"I know," Hope fiddled with her necklace, unsure of how to respond, "Listen, I know we're not friends or anything, but I need your help," Shock consumed Josie's face, unsure if the older girl is pranking her, "That's a minute more than your average time interaction, found time to waste?" Hope nodded at what Josie said, acknowledging the awkwardness of the situation. "But unlike you, I currently have no time to waste. Find someone else,"

"You remember Rafael's brother? What was his name again?" Hope knew the answer, yet still asked, a pathetic attempt to continue this conversation. Blue eyes met Brown, Hope swears to see jealousy swimming in those doe eyes, why? The brunette turned around before she could get a better look. "Yeah, it's Landon. Why?" Josie found her tone odd, why did it come out like that? She tied her hair up to distract herself from the thought.

"You know why they shut down the MemLib since this morning? Cause I might," Hope caught Josie's attention, the 15-year-old's head turned around so fast her ponytail hit the side of her neck. It bugged her earlier why the MemLib closed down yet her mom refused to answer anything and her father was no help.

"I heard an artifact was stolen, like a knife, and I have a feeling that Landon did not leave the school premises empty handed," Hope leaned her head on the door as Josie processed what was just said. "Why do you care about some knife?" Hope shook her head, "It's not just some knife, Josie. It's called an artifact for a reason. In the wrong hands it," The words were trapped in Hope's throat, "I was with him yesterday at the library, he was snooping-"

"Why don't you just use a tracking spell? Why do need my help?" Josie interrupted her, not intending for her tone to sound angry. Hope handed Josie the paper she folded before arrived to the older Saltzman twin's room. "This is," Josie paused for a moment, making sure no one would hear her, "Dark magic. We don't do that here," She whispered, dropping the paper on her bed.

"Says the girl who just lit her ex on fire," Hope regretted the words as soon as they left her mouth. Josie's jaw fell to the floor, someone saw that? And Hope Mikaelson of all people, "Are you blackmailing me?"

"No," Hope shook her head, it was never her intention, "No, I'm just looking for a kindred spirit in revenge," Silence filled the room, either teen knew what to say. Josie sat down at her desk, turning her back to Hope, "Wait 10 minutes in your room," Hope nodded, grabbing the piece of paper from the brown-eyed girl's bed before heading to her dorm.

Hope waited for 10 long minutes, unsure if the girl would actually show up. After setting up the materials needed for the ritual, Hope sat in her bed, feeling her eyelids getting heavier by the second. A sharp knock jolts her awake. She scrambled to answer the door, and true to her word Josie Saltzman stood on the other side. Adorned in pink matching silk pajamas, giving Hope a meek smile while shyly pushing her glasses up, her wavy hair was let down.

"Come in," Hope closed the door after Josie entered, "Why are you wearing pajamas?" Josie played with the hair tie on her wrist, "If anyone asks; especially Lizzie, on why I'm out in the halls on my reading time," Josie faced Hope, "I'll just say that I was thirsty and grabbed some milk from the kitchen,"

Josie looked around, "So is this everything we need?" Hope nods, sitting down on the floor in front of Josie. The brunette sat parallel to Hope, tying her hair up. Hope stared at Josie, entranced by her actions as if it were a siren's call. "Let's get this done quickly," Josie's voice broke Hope out of her trance.

The brunette grabbed the the page, "Instructions is in Latin," she said before taking the matches, lighting up some candles, as Hope took another look at the paper. After confirming that they're doing everything right, Hope grabbed the box with the live rat, "Sorry," she mumbled as she broke the rat's neck with one swift move. Josie stares, in awe of Hope's strength. "What?"

"Nothing," Josie shook her head, "You're a tribrid, so I should not be surprised by that," She handed Hope the knife, the auburn-haired girl gave a small thanks before cutting the rodent open, spilling its blood on the markings she made on her bedroom floor. Josie sprinkled the herbs onto the floor, before grabbing the page again, "Inveniet Hostium et Tenebrae. Did I say that correctly?"

"Yeah,"

"You sure about this?"

"Absolutely," Hope had a determined face, "Won't sleep until I know for sure that the knife did not leave the school premises with him," Hope crossed her hand, just as the ritual instructed, Josie reciprocating her actions. "Inveniet Hostium et Tenebrae," They chanted three times in a row, images flash in their minds. "Do you see anything?"

"Just flashes. Come on give me something,"

It was faint, but an image flashed in Josie's mind, "Route 29! By the state line," Suddenly flashes of Landon's face took center stage, something glowing beneath his jacket. Landon unzips his jacket, revealing a knife in its inner pocket. "It that the knife?"

"Yeah. I fucking knew it," Hope breathed out. The knife emitted a blood red glow, much to the confusion of both girls. "Why is it glowing?" Josie asked. Hope's eyebrows knit together in confusion, "I have no idea," The knife released a blinding light, overwhelming the two girls. Strong gusts of wind suddenly entered Hope's room causing Josie to fall backwards. "Josie!"
