Landon and Raf approached a crowd in the nearby town. They were making bets that tested the limits of human capabilities, but Rafael was no human.
"Who's next?" The woman in charge yelled at the crowd.
"My brother!" Landon shouted, "He would like to try."
The woman looked at both brothers, not holding back that she finds this ridiculous. "This scrawny boy?" She scoffed, "As if. No way."
"Yes way." Landon said, more offended than his brother.
The woman stared at them before deciding to let them try. It's their loss anyway. "Ok." She pointed to the roof. "You see that? He has to get there and back here on the ground in 20 seconds."
A smile plastered itself on Landon's face. "If he makes it we double your money."
The woman liked this boy's boldness, not knowing that he had every reason to. "Ok."
The two boys celebrated, it's a secured win for them.
"20...19..." Oh shit! Right.
Raf ran into the alleyway until he reached the bottom of a fire exit that led directly to the rooftop, but it was out of reach. He looked at his brother who gave a supportive nod, this gave him the confidence boost and he jumped high.
He caught on the ladder, much to everyone's shock. Raf jumped again, and he was now a few bars from the roof. He climbed the last few bars and looked down. For a normal human, this would be a deadly fall, but here goes nothing.
He jumped...............and landed safely on his feet with only a second left on the timer.
Everyone's jaw dropped to the floor. How was this kid still alive and whole?
Landon turned to the woman with his hand outstretched. Despite their success, there were a few skeptics amongst the crowds and made bigger bets alongside much more outrageous challenges, but Raf performed all of them with flying colors.
Landon collected their new wins, they could get a room at a cheap motel. Not much, but it beats sleeping in the woods for another night.
A man stepped forward, "Triple or nothing."
"Sir, we already took your money a few times now."
The man smirked at Landon's words. "Are you really refusing a hundred?" He took a 100 dollar bill from his wallet. The crowd burst into oohs, pushing the brothers to take the gamble.
"Are you serious?"
"Yes, but I want him to climb the roof in 10 seconds."
Landon nodded to his brother, "Start the clock."
A hooded figure hides among the crowd, sending a text to someone.
FOUND THEM.
Back at the Salvatore School, Lizzie Saltzman slumped on a rock. Much as she won't admit it, the way Josie turned away shot a hole through her heart. It doesn't help that she chose Hope freaking Mikaelson of all people.
"Aren't you supposed to be helping in town square?" A voice squeaked.
Lizzie sighed. "Life lesson Pedro, people disappoint. I'm his daughter, but Hope Mikaelson gets to go on secret missions with him. I'm her sister, but she'd rather pick up trash with Hope Mikaelson than scrub paint with me. Like what the actual fuck?!"
"You cursed." Pedro blinked.
Lizzie groaned and fished her wallet out of her pocket. "You take fives?"
