ni-ki stared at the empty seat beside him, fiddling with his fingers. it took his parents 30 minutes to get him to go to school. unlike sunoo's parents, ni-ki's mother and father cared about attendance. after showering and throwing a black hoodie on, he made his way to the place he called hell, with each step feeling heavier and heavier. he slowly closed his eyes and placed his forehead on his desk as he connected his airpods to his phone.
"what did you and sunoo talk about last night?" jay asked jungwon who was staring at the floor "i didnt really talk cause sunoo had.. a lot to say.." he sighed "-i really think they should talk about it, jay. its such a big misunderstanding" jungwon added.
jays eyebrows slowly formed into an arch "what misunderstanding?" he asked. that moment, someone barged in the classroom. jungwons eyes widened in shock as he saw sunoo walking towards his seat "i thought you were skipping today?" jungwon asked him. sunoo flashed him a small smile and said, "we have a quiz right?"
ni-ki slowly moved his head towards the left side where he felt someones familiar presence. he immediately looked away after seeing that it was sunoo "hey" sunoo mumbled, sighing because the younger didnt respond. the younger took every will in his body to stop himself from wrapping his arms around the older. he knew sunoo was the one at fault, but why does his heart keep telling him to go back to him?
sunoo on the other hand kept looking on the ground, as if looking at the plain white marbled floor would give him the answers to his questions. ni-ki was seated only a few inches apart from him, so why couldnt he bring himself to apologize like he had planned? he let out a deep sigh before gently placing both arms on the table, resting his head, and closing his eyes in peaceful resignation. because of his hangover, he quickly drifted off into a deep slumber.
ni-ki's heart felt heavy as he glanced at the male beside him. he hated how he couldnt bring himself to hold his hand and place gentle kisses all over his face. every second that goes by without the older in his embrace felt like hell to him. he bit his lower lip, trying his best to stop himself from brushing the olders hair out of his eyes.
the taller gulped as he reached out a trembling hand towards sunoo's face, flinching at the contact of his fingers and the olders skin. he slowly moved his fingers, caressing his skin like it was the most fragile thing in the world.

ni-ki stared at the ceiling of his room in silence. he clicked the side of his phone to check the time, the corner of his lips curving upward ever so slightly as he stared at his lockscreen. it was a photo of them. the male stared at their photo for a few minutes, observing every detail of sunoo's face — his eyes, his soft hair, his moles, and his smile. he thought to himself, 'will i ever make you smile again?'.
he closed his eyes as he plugged both airpods in his ears, reminiscing all the cherished memories he shared with sunoo, unsure if they would ever get the chance to create new one's.
