Jeremiah knew when he wanted to marry Delilah.

It was when they were 14.

She was sitting next to him on the beach, watching Steven and Liam try and start a bonfire while Conrad and Belly picked up shells in the moonlight

Deli9lah was sketching in her book as usual, Jeremiah itched to find out what she was always drawing, what secrets were buried in the pages.

He hoped he would find out one day.

Jeremiah sneaked an arm around the girl's waist, pulling her close to his chest as she let out a squeal. When the girl looked up at her... Jeremiah honestly thought he could've kissed her then and there.

"What do you want?" Delilah rolled her eyes, but her bright smile shone brighter than all the stars that night.

Jeremiah promised to always make her smile like that.

"Tell me something, Lilah." Jeremiah smiled down at the girl in his arms, her back to his chest and arms around her shoulders. Delilah wrinkled her nose but didn't make any move to move away.

"Like what?" Delilah asked, watching her brother and Steven fail yet again at lighting a successful match.

To be fair, they were all only 14 and 15.

"Anything, I just want to hear you talk," Jeremiah whispered, nuzzling his face into her shoulder. Jeremiah heard Delilah laugh, the sound like the ocean breeze on an early morning.

"I don't know what to say, Jere." Delilah smiled as Jeremiah finally looked up to face her again.

"Tell me three things you know."

"Three things I know?"

"Mhm, I just want to listen to your voice."

He could swear she saw Delilah blush that summer night.

"Okay, three things I know... I know that you're favrioute movie is Cars because you're always watching it secretly in your room because you're afraid Conrad might use it against you. I know that you have a small freckle right here-" Delilah lifted her finger to touch the underside of Jeremiah's jaw. Jeremiah felt his skin prickle as she gently touched said freckle, a soft smile on her face.

"- on the underside of your jaw. And the third thing..." Delilah paused for a moment, thinking a little longer as Jeremiah continued to stare at her, Jeremiah felt like he could stare at her forever.

"I know that one summer night when we were like 9, you gave me this candy ring you got from the boardwalk and said you were going to marry me someday. I called you crazy and said we were too young, but you were stubborn and said you'd wait all your life till I said yes." Delilah grinned, poking his cheek softly before she turned and went back to drawing.

As if she hadn't just confirmed everything Jeremiah knew.

Jeremiah Fisher knew he was going to marry Delilah Collins one day, and he'd wait his whole life till she said yes.
