TW!: SH :(

It didn't seem real.

Seeing Jeremiah in front of her, like he had never left, in the house they grew up in.

Delilah couldn't seem to wrap her head around it

"So this is why you haven't answered any of my phone calls or texts?" Jeremiah said, forcing himself to look away from Delilah and back at Conrad.

He hadn't expected to see her here, never in his wildest dreams would he have expected to run into the brown eyes he saw almost every night in his dreams.

Her face when she saw him made him want to scream.

"Jere, did you not just hear what I just said? We're going to lose this house, Mom's house." Conrad stressed, also forcing his gaze away from Belly.

"Why would your dad sell this house?" Belly shook her head, finally speaking up.

"He's not, their Aunt Julia is," Delilah said, her voice scratchy as she tried to recover from the shock.

"Susannah sister?" Belly frowned.

"Half-sister. The house belonged to both of them and then when mom... now Aunt Julia owns the whole thing so..." Conrad rubbed his neck tiredly.

"Okay, then we'll just call Dad and figure something out." Jeremiah shook his head.

"You think I haven't tried that already? He says legally the house is hers." Conrad argued.

"Okay, then he'll buy it."

"He doesn't have the money to buy it! Between Brown, the medical bills -"

"Yeah, I know how much the medical bills cost because I was there!" Jeremiah snapped, and the girl watched Conrad inwardly retreat for a second.

Delilah felt horrible for both of them.

"How long did you know about this and not tell me?" Jeremiah glared at his brother, soon turning to Delilah. His expression was one of hurt, confusion, betrayal, sadness, and anger.

"And you- you knew this whole time and didn't think to tell me?" Jeremiah asked, his voice crackling slightly. Delilah swallowed the lump in her throat, trying to calm the wild beating of her heart.

"I only just found out yesterday and if im being honest Jeremiah, I didn't think you would even read a text I sent" Delilah confessed quietly.

Jeremiah, not Jere.

Jeremiah had to shut his eyes and turn away.

Her words had hit him deep in his heart, if he had looked at her a second longer Jeremiah might've cried.

"Jere this was all happening so fast, I was going to tell you after I had taken care of it," Conrad said, trying to step in between the ex-couple's tension.

"And this is you taking care of it?" Jeremiah chuckled humourlessly.

"Going AWOL, ditching school, not talking to us-"

"Fuck school I don't care! " Conrad protested.

"Connie you have to go back or you'll fail your class!" Jeremiah exclaimed.

"How will you become a doctor if you fail out of college Conrad?" Belly asked quietly, the girl and the oldest Fisher looking at each other silently.

Delilah and Jeremiah knew that was a personal question.

"You have no idea what you're talking about," Conrad muttered. Jeremiah scoffed as Belly's face fell.

"Seriously? We went to Brown to check on your ass. You know, I didn't think you'd pull this shit again, but you don't give a shit about anyone but yourself." Jeremiah seethed and he left without sparing them a glance.
