OMNISCIENT - friday, 12:00pm
The sound of bullets ripping through paper that hung fifteen feet away, filled the room at a rapid pace. This was light work for Drea. The assault rifle caused her shoulder to bounce every time she pulled the trigger but it never stopped her from moving.
Most girls did yoga or shopped to calm their nerves but this was Drea's way. The minute she was told her mom was in Houston, she went and locked herself inside their personal gun range hoping not to be bothered, but that was too much like right.
MJ walked through the door, placing his headphones over his ear waiting until his sister got to her last bullet. When she turned to switch guns, she looked at her brother but never acknowledged him because she knew why he was there.
"Damn, hello to you too." MJ said.
"Sup." Drea grabbed the smith and Wesson 22, checking the magazine. "What can I do for you Malcolm?"
"You planning on staying in here all day?"
"I have somewhere to be later so probably until then."
"Come to the house, it's food and everything. You always expect the worst when mama comes here."
"Because the worst always happens. I'm not about to argue with her or sit there while she belittles me. I'm good. She hates me because dad is dead, I got it."
"She doesn't hate you Dre."
"If you say so."
"You ever tried sitting down with her, just y'all two and tried to figure shit out."
"No and I don't really want to."
"Sometimes I think you like being angry. It's what gets you through the day."
"Well, with my life it ain't too much to be excited about little brother."
"That's your fault. You've made this job your whole life."
"You can thank Trevor for that. Every time I'm ready to slow down here he comes with something for me to do. It's like he enjoys having me running around like a crazy person."
"I'm glad you said that, this new case he got you working on...something just don't feel right about it."
Drea looked up at her brother. "I'm listening."
"70 million, that number is huge."
"We've done cases that big."
"Yeah but when it's more than one body. 70 million to take out some drug dealer because a bitch got caught stealing his shit. I mean what the fuck else are you supposed to do to somebody that's touching something that doesn't belong to them."
"Whoever put out the bounty is vengeful obviously. Tre wouldn't put me in nothing crazy, you know that."
"I don't know man. Something off and when I feel this way, I'm normally right."
