Forty-eight hours, quickly turned into two weeks. Every move Kyle made was blocked. Underwood had so many officials in his pockets and they were always two steps ahead. The judge that was over seeing Marco and his brother's case was a good friend of Underwood and would do whatever to keep black men off the streets.
No one knew how the guys were doing or where they were being held and that made things worse.
Drea was a wreck.
She hadn't slept since the day their house was intruded. Just up all night, crying and stressed. Paula and Kyle were still staying with her but even with them there she still felt lonely. Her mom stepped in and helped with Maddison, keeping her because she saw the toll that this mess was taking on Drea.
It's was currently four in the morning, and Drea attempted to finally get some rest but it was impossible. All she could think about was how empty the bed felt and the sharp pains in her stomach didn't help. Exhaling, she climbed out of bed and made her way out the room, down to the kitchen thinking something to eat would take her mind off of things for a while.
"Can't sleep either?"
Drea jumped and turned. She didn't see Paula sitting at the other end of their island. "Uh, yeah."
"Same. Have you gotten any sleep since we've been here?"
"Honestly.....no."
"What they're doing to the boys is unethical and I want you to know that Kyle and I are doing everything to try and get them out of jail. It normally only takes one phone call and I can get information on any case but whoever Underwood has attached to this is working hard to keep Marco, Ralph, and Anthony behind bars."
"This is all just a power trip for Underwood it seems. He wants to prove to Marco that he is powerless and I can't believe I'm allowing that to happen." Tears filled Drea's eyes. "I'm letting him down. He'd shake the earth to help me in any situation and it feels like I'm just sitting on my hands."
"Drea, I'm going to be transparent with you. This isn't some other drug dealer that Marco has beef with or something simple. It's the police department, the judicial system and unfortunately there are some evil people in these places. You have a lot of smart people around you, you'll have to get together and go through every person involved in this and pick until you find the person that hasn't been corrupted and is willing to do right."
"Why should I trust you?"
"Me being a cop for thirty years should suffice but me caring about them and my son being involved could be another reason."
"Or your son being involved is the only reason. Be honest Paula, Lou wasn't the only person that wanted Kyle away from his siblings."
"How would it look, me being a decorated officer of the law while my son is selling drugs? Did I want him separated from his siblings? No! That was Lou's idea."
"It's sad that you thought you were incapable of raising him to not be weak minded. Tiara doesn't sell drugs, and don't say it's because she's a female. I'm confused as to how you got tangled up with Lou if you felt like being a drug dealer is just bottom of barrel and news flash, it isn't because my nigga really run shit."
"You date an Alexander man, you know they're charmers. I see it in my son as well and the crazy girls that stalk him. Lou chased me for a while and I did my best to avoid him until I couldn't. My job was to lock him up but instead, I fell in love."
