Chapter 15 - Our Little Girl

Vivian King's POV

"No problem!" I beam, feeling light and joyful as I realize just how far our relationship has come. She trusts me with her beasts... EeeEEeeeEeee!!! Oh I'll make sure they are perfectly taken care of! "You can count on me!" I declare feeling determined as I race towards the vivarium entrance.

I pause as soon as I enter the space. "Aesop?" I whisper under my breath as I spot my love standing just a few feet away with a bouquet of wildflowers in his hand. "Wh-what are you doing here?" My smile blooms as I walk forward and instinctively press his lips to mine. "Aurora asked me to- oooohhh." I giggle, realization dawning on me. "A surprise romantic date! Ohh Aesop you are too sweet!"

Chuckling, he pulls me forward to kiss me again before handing me my bouquet. "I certainly would not describe myself as 'too sweet,' Viv." His smile mirrors mine as he starts guiding me further into the magical meadow.

"OH AESOP!" I gasp as I spot what he's set up for me. The setting sun is frozen perfectly to create a pink and red sky. The off-white picnic blanket is covered with flower petals, various dishes that I'm sure Mink prepared, and plush pillows for us to lean against. As soon as we reach the end of the blanket I quickly place my flowers on the ground gently then wrap my arms around his neck to pull him down into a deep kiss. "This is wonderful. Oh, I love it. I love you."

"I love you too." His hand runs through my hair before settling on my cheek lightly. "Come sit with me." Pulling my hand he guides me down to the ground as he takes the spot beside me. Popping the cork on a bottle of wine, he pours two glasses. "Mink recommended this one." He passes over the glass to me before silently toasting it up and sipping.

"Mmmm." I hum as I taste the sweet wine on my lips. "Delicious!" I set my glass to the side as I focus on the man beside me before gesturing towards the food that's out and the basket that I'm sure is stuffed with other treats. "Is it safe to assume Mink had a hand in the planning of all this?"

"Oh yes." He chuckles, starting to prepare two small plates for us. "Mink and Deek out did themselves in offering their help. Between them and Aurora, I'm not sure if I can take credit for tonight."

"Well I'll still give it to you." I lean, kissing his cheek gently as I take the plate. "But please remind me to thank them all for their help... this truly is beautiful." Glancing around I take in the soft lighting - the breeze blowing by me - the reflection of the sky in the pond... "So magical."

"Tell me about your day." He draws my gaze away from the water.

Diving into my most recent experience in teaching my first years about food duplication he laughs as I describe taking the group of young students to the kitchen to help the elves make breakfast early this morning. "OH Merlin!" I giggle, lost in our conversation. "The poor Ravenclaw couldn't stop the spell and ended up covering three of the boys in piles of fried eggs!"

Pulling me closer to him, he keeps his arm warped around him as his smile looks especially soft and sweet. "Well your students aren't the only one running into food trouble."

"Oh?"

He huffs under his breath. "Apparently the students are playing some kind of prank on me. I have been continually having food suddenly appear in front of me for the past few days. Covering my office table - showing up near my feet as I walk in the hall." His obvious irritation ripples off him. "It's ridiculous." Biting my lip, I hold back my laughter as I let him finish his ranting for a few more moments. "What?" He finally asks, looking at my expression. "Do you know something?"
