Alvarez always had this one guilt in his heart.

He always kept remembering it whenever there would be a case relating to any abuse a woman suffers.

He was once a man who was married to his love, living a happy life while doing his duty as a police officer. It wasn't always like this. He wasn't like this.

He wasn't a man to always drown in work till his work place became his second home.

He married his high school sweetheart and they were living happily. He was content, what more could he ask for? But, later his wife became pregnant, it was unexpected but it wasn't like they weren't happy at the same time.

But his wife, Kelly, faced some complications while giving birth to their baby girl and died after Jennifer, their baby was born.

Alvarez was heartbroken. Everything was fine, it felt like it was. Kelly was healthy throughout her pregnancy, they were careful every time. But somehow fate had other plans. After Kelly's death, Alvarez resented their daughter. She was a resemblance of his late wife, she reminded him of her and more than that he was reminded of her death, he blamed his daughter for his wife's death.

Years passed by and nothing changed, everything was the same, Alvarez ignored his daughter's existence and drowned in work. She mostly grew up with their neighbors who were kind to the lonely child.

Alvarez never thought to get remarried, the thought alone made him sick. He felt like removing his love from his memories and living the same way he lived with her with someone else. He can't do that.

He was happy being alone and staying away from his daughter.

He remembers that day very clearly, how can he forget that.

He remembers that stormy night when out of the blue his daughter came up to him and said she's going to marry her boyfriend and leave the house.

Alvarez couldn't believe it at first, he didn't realize when the little girl grew up and was about to get married. She didn't come to ask his permission, she just came to tell him.

The thought alone made him realize what he missed, they were just strangers who lived together because they shared the same blood. It somehow hurt him.

Alvarez personally searched about her boyfriend's history and wasn't very pleased seeing it. Like any other protective father he told her to not marry him, he told her about how much of a bad influence he is.

But Jennifer didn't listen to him, Alvarez wasn't even surprised about her reaction, why would she? He wasn't the father she expected him to be.

They got into a nasty argument, Jennifer reminded him of all his mistakes and how he doesn't have any right to decide her future.

Alvarez didn't know how to stop her, she loved her boyfriend too dearly to listen to him.

Later, Jennifer married her boyfriend, it was a court marriage which he was not invited to.

Everything went well, it looked like that. They looked happy Alvarez didn't miss the glow on his daughter's face. It made him believe he was the wrong one, they were happy that's what made him content. Alvarez made sure to tell his daughter that despite every fucked up thing he did she is still his daughter and would always protect her from everything. He is always there for her.

But then suddenly in the middle of the night he got a call from Jennifer. She was crying hysterically saying how her husband cheated on her and wasn't letting her leave the house and took her mobile so that she couldn't contact anyone. She told him how he hit her in anger. And that was all it took for Alvarez to leave his house immediately and go to her.

But by the time he reached, he was too late. When he entered their house he saw his dear daughter laying dead in the pool of her own blood with eyes wide open looking at him.

A few meters away from her laid her dead husband who shot himself after killing her.

They fought badly till he pulled his gun out and shot her.

The only thing she requested was to leave him. But he killed her for it.

Since then Alvarez blamed himself for killing her, if only he loved his daughter then she wouldn't have gone to any person who told her they love her.

She believed him because she was a naive child who was searching for love.

The one where she would feel safe and happy.

After her death Alvarez always tried to protect those girls who were going through the same as his daughter went through. He protected those girls whose boyfriend would abuse them, he protected those whose parents abused them, protected those who were missing because of someone's mere obsession.

He tries to. And he promised his daughter that he will protect those who need him.

He will find Aria from whoever took her; they thought she was alone. She is not alone.

Nathaniel opened his eyes slowly looking at his surroundings. The white walls greeted him and the nauseous smell of the hospital.

Fuck. What happened?

Then he remembered everything Nathaniel immediately sat up, ignoring the pain in his head and body.

Aria. My Aria.

"Sir please don't get up, you're still recovering." The nurse entered the room immediately after him.

Nathaniel ignored her words and yelled, "Call Officer Peter Alvarez right now, I want to talk to him. Did you hear me?? I SAID CALL HIM NOW." he screamed, making the nurse jump.

Gulping, she left the room. Nathaniel removed the wires attached to his body, ignoring the beeping noise the machine was making since he got up.

I know it's him. That fucker.

He gritted his jaw trying to control the anger bubbling inside him.

It felt like the time was going slow as he waited for the officer.

Suddenly the door opened revealing some other officer in his uniform. But now there wasn't much time.

"Officer the church where Aria goes every Sunday has this priest, I know it's him, officer. The priest is the one who took her. I swear. I want Alvarez to go there. His name is William." He blabbered without wasting any time. He was tired of waiting. If only he realized it earlier.

How can he forget him? If only he realized it early then maybe they would've found her.

He can't waste much time now.

"Calm down Mr. Carter, we did talk to the priest and we found nothing. We are searching for her. You should take a rest. We are handling everything." He replied.

Nathaniel couldn't believe his words, "HOW COULD YOU SAY THIS!!!! MY GIRLFRIEND IS MISSING SINCE LAST SIX DAYS AND YOU TELL ME TO REST. I AM TELLING YOU IT'S HIM. HE HAS HER!!!!!" He screamed glaring at the officer.

"Mr. Carter, calm down please you're still injured, it's not good for your health. NURSE!"

Nathaniel pushed the nurse who tried to inject something inside him.

"NO!!! FUCKING GET AWAY MOTHERFUCKER!!!"

The doctors held him tightly making it difficult for him to move.

He groaned when the needle pierced his skin.

Soon everything around him turned hazy.

"Aria...Aria.." he mumbled.
