Thirty-Three: Risky Game

Nathaniel gasped, opening his eyes.

It was a dream.

His whole body was full of sweat and his breathing was erratic. He could hear his own rapid heart.

It was a dream. Just a dream.

But it felt so real for him. Just imagining it made his heart squeeze in pain.

Nathaniel groans clutching his head, it feels like someone is hitting it hard. His body ached from every part and was screaming for rest. Then he hears a voice coming from outside the door.

Ignoring all the pain Nathaniel got up with the support of the bed. He slowly gets up and limps his way towards the door and slowly opens it.

He removed the IV attached to him. And went near the door.

A few meters away stood a police officer talking to someone on his phone.

"Yes sir, the priest's residence...yes I found it.....yes sir I'll send it right away....he's still asleep and the nurse said it will take time for the medicine's effect to go away. As soon as he wakes up I'll inform you sir. Okay sir." He said and hung up.

Nathaniel immediately closed the door without making any noise.

His address I want it. I have to get the address somehow.

Nathaniel immediately goes back to his bed as he hears footsteps coming towards his room.

Laying down in the bed, he closes his eyes.

The bedroom door opens and the officer looks at him while talking on his phone.

"Yeah he's still out. I have sent Peter sir his address, but we can't take any actions immediately.....people trust him, he's been the father of that church for a long time....yeah" he says checking up on Nathaniel and leaves immediately closing the door from behind.

Nathaniel opens his eyes and gets up.

Peter....Peter Alvarez?

Looking up at the wall clock, it shows ten o'clock in the night.

He just has to wait till the officer falls asleep. Then he can get his phone.

Time passed slowly making him more agitated. The more he waited the more restless he became.

He can't just rest. He can't when Aria is out there waiting for him. He can't just rest when she's in pain. He might be helpless but he won't give up.

He always gave up on everything but this time he won't give up on her. He did once but not now.

This time he won't leave without a fight.

He looked at the time. It was three past midnight.

He slowly went towards the door and opened it, creeping out and he found the police officer sleeping on the chair. The hallway was empty.

He closed the door behind him without making any noise and went near the officer.

He made sure not to make any sound as he searched for his phone.

He stopped as the officer moved in his sleep.

Taking a deep breath, he checked his side pockets, finding it in his right pocket.

Taking it out, he took his fingerprint lock and unlocked his phone and left the place.

He didn't look back and kept on walking, even though his leg was hurt, he still limped his way out, he didn't stop till he was out of the hospital.

He looked at the hospital building while panting, giving it a one last look he turned around and left.

He limped his way towards his apartment making sure no one found him.

He immediately changed his clothes and threw the hospital gown away.

Nathaniel looked at himself in the mirror and sighed.

There are so many thoughts running in his mind, especially negative ones, that it's making him go crazy.

Going back to his room, he looked through the officer's text messages.

George St. Block no. 32.

He got up and went towards the kitchen, he took the knife from the cabinet.

Gripping it hard he kept it hidden in his jeans.

Aria...just be safe. I am coming to get you.

Aria looked at the girl as she started to wake up.

Slowly opening her eyes, Aria looked at her, Candice was unfocused trying to search for something in the darkness until her eyes landed on her.

Upon seeing her, Candice starts to tear up.

Aria just stared at her not knowing what to do. She was hesitant to ask her. But her body is already too weak to do anything.

But sitting quietly does nothing as well.

Aria slowly crawls towards her and with hesitation taps her shoulder.

Candice looks up at her, Aria motions her to untie her hands.

"What are you saying?? I can't understand." She murmurs.

Aria motions her again but it goes in vain.

"I can't understand anything. Don't you know how to speak?" Candice asks her, to which Aria immediately shakes her head in denial.

"You don't!?" Her eyes widened in surprise.

Aria sighs at her tiredly, then she looks around the room.

"What are you searching for?"

Aria ignored her words and kept on searching.

She grinned widely when she found a shard lay a few meters away from them.

She crawled towards it and took it in her hands and went to Candice.

She motioned her to use it to cut the tight ropes, it took a few moments for her to understand. But when she did, she immediately started cutting the rope wrapped around Aria's hands.

After a lot of struggle Aria was finally free from the ropes, without wasting any time she freed her legs as well.

Aria went towards Candice and opened her ropes as well.

Without wasting time, Aria motions Candice to run and seek help while she distracts William from her.

"I don't think it's a good plan..." Candice murmurs. Aria immediately shook her head and told her to do it.

"Why don't we do it together?..." She suggested.

Aria denies again and shows her leg which is swollen from William's harsh beating.

Candice looked at her bruise then at her.

Aria didn't let her think much and immediately told her to follow her plan.

It's risky but there's still hope.
