You had been walking down the street, coming home from work. You knew you had to pay to go to college next year and wanted to help your family, so you got a few extra jobs. You worked at the brew after school for a few hours, at the weekend you worked at the shopping centre and in the mornings you did a paper round. It was exhausting and left you with very little time.

Sadly this put a strain on yours and Jason's relationship, since you had limited time to see each other and you couldn't text whilst you were at work. However Jason understood your reasons, even he went to a good college, despite his actions. At least you thought he understood, he was always supportive.

You had been allowed to leave work early, because you had done a few extra shifts earlier in the week. You were tired and wanted to go to bed, but knew that Jason would appreciate it if you went to see him. You didn't tell him, wanting to surprise him instead. You stopped off at a takeaway on the way, knowing Jason wouldn't have eaten yet so you thought it would be nice for him not to cook. You hoped he was home from work and didn't stay longer. Otherwise you would have to wait outside in the cold.

You approached his house, noticing his car in the drive and the lights on. You sighed in relief, wondering whether to knock or go straight in. you chose to knock, rocking back and forth on your heels as you waited for someone to answer. But no one did.You turned the door handle and it clicked open. You shut it behind you. You thought it would be more of a surprise if you did it like this anyway.

You walked into the living room, expecting him to be there but it was empty. You then strolled into the kitchen, noticing an empty pizza box on the side. You but down the bag you brought, exhaling as you did so. Maybe he grabbed something on his way home? Although he never did. Perhaps he was let off early too, or just wanted a change? You knew he was upstairs and took this opportunity to make yourself look good. You leaned forward, using the reflection in a glass cupboard. You flattened your hair after being exposed to the violent wind outside. You pressed your palms against your cheeks to try and reduce the redness from the biting cold. Content with your appearance you removed your scarf and coat and hung them up. You started making your way upstairs, noticing how silent the house was. The hallway light was off and so was Alison's, but you could already see Jason's lamp on.

You paused outside his door, wondering how you were going to enter, yet everything you thought of sounded cheesy. So you opened the door. But he wasn't there. Why would he go out and leave the door and all the light on? You noticed his wardrobe door open, a pair of shoes missing from their usual place. Maybe he went outside?

You made your way back down the stairs, grabbing your coat as you walked out to the garden. You snuggled into your scarf, bracing yourself for the harsh weather. However when you stepped outside the wind was barely noticeable, the house sheltering you. You heard a high pitched giggle, too high to be Jason's. You followed it, thinking it was Alison. Then you saw them. Sitting on the grass, cuddled up together. His arm wrapped around her, with her head on his shoulder. Jason and Cece.

They didn't notice your presence until you unintentionally let out a big sob. Their heads shot up to turn in your direction, alarmed looks flashing across both faces. It was only when they turned to you, you saw cece's fingertips stroking up and down Jason's thigh. He tried to stand up, but she pulled him down towards her. You didn't want to see anymore, so you stumbled back and left.

You were still in shock. Where you not spending enough time with him? Were you not good enough? Did he ever get over Cece? Were you just filling in the space until she came back?

You were walking down the road, passing multiple shops and restaurants. People were laughing and joking inside, flirting and having dates. Your heart felt like it had just been smashed. You were glad it was night, the darkness hiding your tears. You were also thankful for the wind and your scarf, muffling your sniffles.

You arrived home, avoiding your family and heading straight to your room. You didn't want to see anyone and didn't feel like explaining what had happened. What you had just seen. You lay on your bed, with nothing else to do. You decided it would be best to sleep, maybe it was all a dream. Maybe it would hurt less tomorrow. But you could see them in your head. You could see her smile. How he didn't move her hand. How he was leaning to towards her, pulling her close. He had done that with you and it made you sick. But then another thought crept into your mind.

He had done all that with her first.
