Could you do an imagine where Mike comes to see you for the first time since the doll house? Thanks. Love your imagines!!
Words: 891
A/N: it's been a while, but it's the holidays so I'm making the most out of my free time!
The clean, white colours that coated the hospital walls were a nice change from the pretend bedroom walls inside the dollhouse, mimicking the place you called home. The heating was much better than the cold bunker, meaning you didn't spend every minute of the day shivering to gain more warmth. You had been in hospital for a few days, your body recovering from the malnourishment you had suffered. You made it out to the doctors that you felt worse than you actually did, in reality, you were physically recovered. Mentally was a different story. Your mind was still trapped in the dollhouse, still replaying every hellish day you spent down there. Replaying all the horrible things that monster made you do to your friends. And going home was the last thing you wanted to do, seeing the same bedroom again was too much to handle.
Half of it was a blur. Part of you was relieved the other part was terrified. Terrified of what your mind had suppressed. Terrified of what you might have done to someone else, and terrified of what someone else might have done to you. You longed for normality.
The liars had come to visit, and your parents were with you constantly, but it wasn't quite enough to feel like you had actually made it out of the dollhouse. It was as if the game was never going to end, the pain just prolonged throughout your life.
"Are you ok there y/n?" aria asked from the doorway, dressed in her normal clothes again.
"I'm just thinking" you replied, your voice distant, having to slowly bring yourself back into the room. "I see you aren't wearing the hospital gown anymore, I have to say, your own clothes suit you better."
Aria laughs at your comment, leaning against the door frame. You could see she was still not recovered yet either, however you were happy that she found comfort in going home.
"I hope you get out of here soon as well y/n. I honestly can't wait to breathe in the fresh air and run through puddles and feel the wind against my face." She sighed.
"Are you really going to run through puddles?" you raised your eyebrows questioning her.
"Not in these shoes." She joked, turning her head to look at something behind her. You smiled slightly, the interaction was definitely lifting your mood.
"Aria come on, dads waiting for us!" mike said, strolling up behind her. He looked more tired than when you had last seen him, more stressed.
"Ok, ok I'm coming." She replied, nodding and saying her goodbyes. It was only after she spoke that mike finally recognised you sitting there.
"y/n?" he said in disbelief, a touch of guilt edging its way into his tone. He entered the room, slowly and quietly shutting the door behind him.
"Hey mike." You greeted casually, like you weren't sat in a hospital bed after being kidnapped by a maniac. He came over and sat on the side of your bed, his fingers tracing down your arms where various bruises covered your skin.
"I was so worried about you whilst you were down there. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't help you. Then I got so nervous about coming to see you that I just... didn't." he explained, his fingers now interlocked with your own, like he was trying to make you stay to hear him out.
"I know." You moved around a little but so that he would stop avoiding your gaze and look you in the eyes.
"What do you mean you know?" he asked, letting go of your one hand. You could tell he was beating himself up and to you that was worse than anything you had been through.
"I know you were worried. I know you couldn't do anything. I know you felt bad and it was stopping you from seeing me. I'm not mad at you mike. You've been through hell too."
He smiled, bringing one hand up to rest on your cheek. He sighed, shaking his head, then resting his forehead on yours, a few tears building up in his eyes.
"I missed you so much." He muttered, his words barely audible.
"I missed you too." You smiled, a warm familiarity filling your heart.
"You're still there aren't you?" He questioned. You pulled back, looking at him curiously. "I can see it. The way your irises cloud over, like your trapped in your own mind and not here. I'm guessing you're still there."
"I can't stop going there in my mind... it's like they keep physically pulling me back." You confessed. It was like a magical power, how he got you to admit your deepest feelings to him with only a few words.
"I'll bring you back y/n. I can promise you that." You saw him look down at his phone. "I have to go, aria and dad are waiting. I'll come back soon." He reluctantly stood up and turned to go, not before leaving a quick, sweet kiss on your lips.
After he walked out you threw your head back onto the pillow, feeling more grounded in the real world than you had done for weeks, even months.
You knew he was slowly going to bring you back. Even if it took all the time in the world.
