Request: y/n is being targeted by A and Jason gets protective.

A/n: it's reasonably short and I had no clue how A could target y/n. I hope its ok!!!

The message was delivered quickly, only it wasn't by text. You were heading out of your door to meet Jason when you stepped on something, only lightly putting pressure on it. It was a detailed mask with a scar over the left eye, stretching from the top right to just above the lip.

You were to go to a masquerade ball that was being held by the church, therefore basically all of rosewood had to go. You found that your weight hadn't crushed it and the scar was intentional, like it had been carved with an odd instrument. A tag was dangling off the side with the words 'wear me' on it. You frowned, not knowing who it was from and ripped the tag off. Then you turned it over, inspecting the inside. A red message was written inside, smudged, but not enough for it to be unreadable. A gasp escaped your lips once you read it.

'Wear the mask and complete the task. Kisses A'

You did as it said and wore the mask. It matched your dress perfectly, making you think that A had been watching you more than you had originally thought. You finally met Jason, your date for the night and on the way you showed him the message. You always told him, as you wanted to keep each other safe and no one made you feel safe more than Jason. His hands gripped the steering wheel harder, his knuckles turning white, you could see him visibly clench his jaw. He always reacted this way; angry about what this person was doing.

You knew he was anxious about the 'task' but neither of you wanted to let A ruin the night. The first hour or so was great, and uninterrupted by A. that was until you lost Jason. You sat by the fountain in the centre of the room. The floor was raised slightly, making it easy for you to see over the people dancing around you. You but your hand down beside you, only to feel a liquid on your fingertips. You pulled your hand away to see another message.

'Go to the cloakroom and find Mrs Marin's coat. Grab her purse and meet me on the roof. A.'

You had been sat there for a while and you didn't understand how A wrote that message, as the water was already washing it away.

You refused to do what they said, instead, you found Jason again and began dancing. You danced for a while, explaining what you read to Jason. He tugged you closer, his eyes scanning everyone as you stepped back and forth.

"Do you want a drink?" Jason asked as the song finished. You nodded, grabbing his hand as he led you over to the drinks table.

"Um excuse me..." a young waiter said, tapping you on the shoulder. This caught both of your attention as you waited for him to continue. "Are you y/n?" he asked. You said yes, your eyebrows furrowing in confusion.

"I have been asked to deliver this message." He handed you a slip of paper then ran off, keeping his head low.

"That was odd." Jason commented, his eyes still following the boys figure through the crowd. "What does it say?" you read it aloud to him.

'Complete the task or your face will mirror the mask. Kisses A'

Your mouth fell open at the threat, fear consuming you. You knew if you did this it would end badly for Hanna's mom. But then you may have no choice.

"I'm not doing it." You stated, somewhat confidently. You couldn't betray Hanna like that, she was a very close friend. Plus, Mrs Marin had always been kind and generous with you.

"We need to leave." Jason said, his voice filled with worry. You held onto him as you ran to the exit, eager to get somewhere safer. Even though there was lots of people here, one of them was A and you had no idea which one.

For some reason the route back wasn't the same as it was on the way in. it was like you were both stuck in a maze. Mirrors were placed at various points, making passages look like dead ends and enlarging it to at least twice the size.

"Stay close to me." Jason said, as you stopped running and started to walk quietly and carefully.

You heard noises around you, any one of them could be A, so you moved closer to Jason, making him wrap an arm around you.

"It's okay." He whispered, placing his lips on your temple for a brief second. You could feel him breathing deeply, clearly as scared as you were. You neared what looked to be the centre.

'Do it. Or your blood will replace the water in the fountain. A'

If you didn't do this A was going to kill you and you knew there threat was serious.

"You won't touch her!" Jason shouted, hoping whoever it was heard him. You turned around heading back. All the while Jason protected you, shielding you whenever anything moved or made a noise and calming you down. The crowd which made you nervous before now seemed like the best place to be. Eventually you made it out into public again and opted to go home, deciding it would be better if you stayed at the Dilaurentis house, so Jason could watch over you.

A couldn't 'make you blood run in the fountain' because you were no longer there. And you weren't about to frame an innocent person. Yet you knew your actions would have consequences.
