A/N: HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

You tapped your pencil against your desk impatiently as you waited for your lesson to be over. The second hand on the clock ticking impossibly loud and painfully slowly. Everything else in the room seemed to pull your attention away from the teacher at the front, as if there was some force present that really didn't want you to do geography. You scanned the bookshelves, wondering if the various novels and atlases were ever read, or just there for decoration. The undisturbed dust coating the top seemed to suggest the latter.

You started to fidget when you heard the chairs in room next to you scrape across the floor, indicating that the lesson for them was over, and soon yours would be too. You watched people shuffle past the classroom door, eager to get their lunch before the queue got too long. Occasionally people weren't rushing past, like spencer Hastings. She was hanging around outside for something. Her eyes kept flicking from door to door, like she was waiting for someone to exit. You studied her for a while, until you heard the squeak of a door opening and Jason Dilaurentis's head pop into view.

You could see the smile immediately appear on her face, her eyes lighting up, the opposite happening to you. Straining your eyes, you tried to lip read whatever was going on, it was definitely not a normal student- teacher interaction.

Their encounter was brief, but it was long enough for it to be engraved into your mind for the rest of the day, until you finally got home and collapsed onto your bed.

You could feel a nasty, envious feeling creep up inside you. You and spencer had always been in competition when you were younger and now she was taking everything from you.

Growing up, you and spencer had been friends. Your parents however, were not. Her parents looked down on yours and didn't like the fact that you were just as smart as spencer was, since spencer was constantly having to share prizes with you. In their eyes, you were a threat, even at 9 years old. So they started competing you against each other, twisting your views so that neither of you were happy sharing 1st place. You never fell out, but you weren't exactly friends either. It was more like you two were just very good acquaintances.

After that, she seemed to be moving up in the world, whilst everyone else forgot about you. She was entered into school competitions, even if you got the same grades. She became friends with the queen bee, along with three other girls, and attended multiple parties, becoming the leader of multiple clubs. Whilst you sat at the back of the classroom with your regular group of friends and studied, narrowly missing the flames that seemed to engulf all happiness around Alison Dilaurentis.

Jason however, was completely different, and perfect, if not a little burnt. You met when you were doing work experience at a college, deciding to help with the film club. You could feel his eyes on you at every meeting, until he finally worked up the courage to come and say hello. You started talking and you somehow ended up where you are now; dating in secret.

You don't know why you decided to keep it a secret, especially after all this time, but he was always reluctant to admit it to people. Since you wanted to stay with him, you never argued with him about it. Now you were starting to wonder if it was because he liked to flirt with other girls, and didn't want you in the way as a barrier. He spent a lot of time with different students at the school, girls who were your age and gorgeous.

Spencer Hastings.

It wasn't the first time you had seen them together, they were always having interactions in the hallway, even outside of school. One day you were walking down the street and spotted them drinking coffee together. You told yourself it was just a coincidence and continued walking, knowing you couldn't just stroll over and shout at her for having coffee with your boyfriend.

You had never hated her so much in your life. She was good friends with Alison, of course he would like her, he's known her for long enough. Plus she's perfect in every way possible.

You tried to snap yourself out of the negative thoughts, but there didn't seem to be any solution. You needed to talk to Jason. You needed to tell people about your relationship or you needed this torture to end.
